While John Q. Adams won a plurality of the popular vote in the Election of 1824, no candidate managed to carry enough electoral votes to win the presidency. Per the 12th Amendment, the election has therefore been thrown to the House of Representatives. A majority of states is needed to win. As Andrew Jackson received the votes of both Adams' and Calhoun's electors for vice president, there is no need for the Senate to decide that office.
Two days.

Results of the 1824 Presidential Election

*New York (Adams 20; Crawford 14; Clay 2)  Maryland (Adams 9; Crawford 2)  Louisiana (Adams 2; Crawford 3)

Secretary of State John Q. Adams (Massachusetts)/ Senator Andrew Jackson (Tennessee): 93 Electoral Votes; 40.7% popular votes
Senator William H. Crawford (Georgia)/ Senator Martin Van Buren (New York): 81 Electoral Votes; 33.3% popular votes
Senator Henry Clay (Kentucky)/ Attorney General Nathan Sanford (New York): 40 Electoral Votes; 18.5% popular votes
Senator John C. Calhoun (South Carolina)/ Senator Andrew Jackson (Tennessee): 37 Electoral Votes; 7.4% popular votes

A vote for Crawford is most likely a vote for Van Buren, and c'mon Van Buren is definitely an improvement over JQA or Jackson.

Henry Clay, seem to be the only vote for him.

Were Crawford to die before the end of his term (I assume that's what you're implying), it would be Jackson, not Van Buren, who becomes president. Since Jackson got the votes of both Adams' and Calhoun's (and a few of Clay's) electors, he was elected VP without need for a Senate vote.

1825 Contingent Election

Secretary of State John Q. Adams: 13 States
Senator William H. Crawford: 10 States
Senator Henry Clay: 1 State

Thanks in part to the support of Henry Clay, who rightly predicted that he could not win and lent his influence to preventing Crawford's election, Secretary of State John Q. Adams claimed a narrow victory in the House of Representatives, carrying 13 states to Crawford's 10. Thus, the illustrious Adams family was returned to power for the first time since 1801, while Clay was to become Secretary of State, forging one of the most important alliances in the history of the United States.
