Of course not. Aren't they basically the Scottish center/center-right at this point?

Populists.

If someone proposed they pass a blatently rightist policy, but they had it in their collective heads that it could get them a step closer to independence, they'd do it (see also: Parti Québécois 2012-14).

It's hard to describe a party that is bankrolled by Brian Souter and that is currently lobbying for tax cuts for BP as 'socialist', even if it does certainly contain some socialists in its membership. Its record in government balances out as fairly middle of the road: they've kept popular left-ish policies of the previous Scottish Labour administrations, while also doing some rather more right-wing things of their own, though the peculiar political language of Scotland (the point having been reached where 'Right' = Tory = anti-Scottish*) means that this isn't how such policies are seen. More common than either, really, is managerial centrism of the high spending variety.

During the referendum campaign their rhetoric moved futher to the left, but in a way that was perhaps a little heavier on soaring language than on sordid matter such as details (viz. repeated promises of 'transformative change' in their plan for what an independent Scotland would be like), from which people can draw their own conclusions.

*Some of the blame for this ridiculous state of affairs can be laid at Scottish Labour's door, unfortunately.

No.

Scottish politics has been dominated by a party system since 1832 that essentially has one dominant. populist, 'appeals to every body' party. It was the Whigs/Liberals for almost 100 years, then the Unionists and their Moderate/Progressive supporters at from the 30's to 50's and since the 60's it's been Labour.

The SNP are essentially just replacing the one the status quo that was already there, with similar policies and may end up being as generationally dominant as Labour once were. Nicola Sturgeon is a left winger though and it appears she will try and outflank Labour further on the left while the new Labour leader in Scotland is still working out where to position himself (and what football top to be photographed in)

IIRC SNP never claimed to be "socialist".

Seeing as their bus regulation plan was more 'free-market' than the Tories and their economic plan for independence was seemingly becoming a corporate tax haven... no.

Certainly not. Typical Petty Nationalists which means anything goes.

The one way they are entirely socialist though is their enduring love of excessive centralisation. Even the Labour Party in the UK has never stooped to the depths of what the SNP has done in Scotland since 2007.

If you were not aware of who he is, you'd guess that Murdoch was a kindly old gent from those photos.

Irrelevant to the question at hand because this poll is about the SNP.

All the images of Rupert Murdoch pictured next to x is entirely irrelevant as to whether or not a party is socialist (which the SNP clearly isn't anyway) Which made me wonder why you posted it at all.
