Not sure if this belongs in this section, but it seems to be the best fit.

There aren't enough women or minorities in this list, and all of the choices hold elected office which obviously won't happen.  In both Bill Clinton's first cabinet and Barack Obama's first cabinet 8 of the secretaries previously held office.  Also, some of the Senators from purple or red states are very unlikely to be picked.

1.Treasury, Tom Carper, Delaware Senator and former Governor
2.Commerce, John Lynch, former New Hampshire Governor, former State Party Chair and Businessman
3.Labor, Sherrod Brown, Ohio Senator
4.Interior, Heidi Heitkamp, North Dakota Senator, former energy company director
5.Agriculture, Brad Henry, former Oklahoma Governor
6.Energy, Angus King, former Maine Governor, former Pres. Northeastern Energy Management Inc
7.Transportation, Martin O'Malley, former Maryland Governor
8.Housing and Urban Development, Jeff Merkley, Oregon Senator, fmr Exec Dir Portland Habitat for Humanity
9.Education, Michael Bennett, Colorado Senator, former Denver Public Schools Superintendent
10.Health and Human Services, Brian Schatz, Hawaii Senator, fmr CEO Hawaii Helping Hands Hawaii
11.Veteran's Affairs, Paul Hackett
12.Defence, Jack Reed, Rhode Island Senator, former Army Reserve Major
13.State, Joe Biden, U.S Vice President
14.Homeland Security, Deval Patrick, former Massachusetts Governor
15.Attorney General, Christine Gregoire, former Washington Governor, fmr State Attorney General

She won't pick a cabinet made up of sitting Senators or Governors. That just doesn't happen. She will pick close aides, bureaucrats, and think tank figures.

Expect people like Cheryl Mills, etc.

1993 Clinton Cabinet
1.Treasury, Lloyd Bentsen, sitting Texas Senator, appointed at Bentsen's insistence, you don't turn down the chair of the U.S Senate Finance Committee
2.Agriculture, Mike Espy, sitting Mississippi U.S Representative
3.Defence, Les Aspin, sitting Wisconsin, U.S Representative

2009 Obama cabinet
1.Labor, Hilda Solis, sitting California U.S Representative
2.Interior, Ken Salazar, sitting Colorado Senator
3.Transportation, Ray La Hood, sitting Illinois U.S Representative (Republican)
4.Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius, sitting Kansas Governor
5.State, Hillary Rodham Clinton, sitting New York Senator
6.Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, sitting Arizona Governor

To be sure, you didn't mention U.S representatives.

Granted LaHood was already retiring from Congress.

Thanks for the correction.

This is a preliminary list and, like I said above, only likely half of the cabinet will go to elected politicians.

The only one I'm pretty sure I'm right about right now is Brad Henry getting Agriculture.

I don't know much about policy other than economics so I couldn't name a single non politician who is likely to get into a Hillary Clinton cabinet.

Other politicians or want to be politicians.
1.Richard Carmona, Arizona, 2012 U. S Senate nominee, Health and Human Services

2.Mark Udall, Colorado, U.S Senator (defeated), Interior, former Executive Director Colorado Outward Bound.  Probably much more likely than Heidi Heitkamp to get the job, but I needed more women.  Not sure if a Republican Senate would approve him.

3.Jack Markel, Delaware, Governor, Treasury, Commerce (term limited in 2016)

4.Michelle Nunn, Georgia, 2014 U.S Senate nominee, Health and Human Services

5.Jason Carter, Georgia, 2014 Governor nominee, State Senator, Education

6.A.J Balukoff, Idaho, 2014 Idaho Governor nominee, President Boise School Board

7.Steve Beshear, Kentucky, Governor, Health and Human Services

8.Mary Landrieu, Louisiana, U.S Senator (defeated) Transportation

9.Olympia Snow, Maine, former Repbublican U.S Senator, Education/Health and Human Services (as opposed to animal services?) I wouldn't mind a Secretary of Bigfoot Services

10.Amy Klobuchar, Minnesota, U.S Senator, Attorney General

11.Steve Bullock, Montana, Governor, Interior, Attorney General

12.Mark Schauer, Michigan, 2014 Governor nominee, former U.S Representative, Labor

13.Chuck Hassebrook, Nebraska, 2014 Governor nominee, Agriculture

14.Cory Booker, New Jersey, U.S Senator, Housing and Urban Development

15.Martin Heinrich, New Mexico, U.S Senator, Energy

16.Sheldon Whitehouse, Rhode Island, U.S Senator, Attorney General

17.Tom Daschle, South Dakota, former U. S Senator, Health and Human Services

18.Howard Dean, Vermont, former Governor, Health and Human Services

19.Mark Warner, Virginia, U.S Senator, former Governor, Treasury, Commerce

20.Tim Kaine, Virginia, U.S Senator former Governor, Attorney General, Homeland Security

21.Maria Cantwell, Washington, U. Senator, Commerce, former Senior Vice President Real Networks

22.Russ Feingold, Wisconsin, former U.S Senator, Attorney General

23.Dave Freudenthal, Wyoming, former Governor, Interior

and one non politician out of the blue that I'd like to see
1.Howard Bloom, Secretary of Education

Andrew Cuomo for AG, especially if he raises a lot of money for her.

It's hard to be Attorney General in prison.

OK, there are no charges against him (yet).

I'd hate to see somebody so ethically challenged be given the most ethically sensitive portfolio as Attorney General.

I missed one other cabinet possible, who is likely to get in:
Ed Rendell former Pennsylvania governor.  He could get Homeland Security, Transporatation, Health and Human Services or Attorney General.  He was a big backer of her in 2008 so he's a strong bet to be rewarded by her.

Non elected politician.  The likely Secretary of Defence
William Harry McRaven (born November 6, 1955) is a retired United States Navy admiral who last served as the ninth commander of the United States Special Operations Command from August 8, 2011, to August 28, 2014. He previously served from June 13, 2008, to August 2011 as Commander, Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC)[2] and from June 2006 to March 2008 as Commander, Special Operations Command Europe (SOCEUR).[2]

The Secretary of Defense must be retired from the military for ten years.

Thanks. Learn something new...
Maybe Secretary of State then.

A few changes.  I've removed a couple sitting Senators.  Though I've replaced one with another sitting senator, Dianne Feinstein, she's almost certain to retire from the senate in 2018 anyway. I've increased the number of women to 3, which is only one or two less than the likely actual number.  As I've said already I'm well aware only around half of the cabinet usually goes to elected politicians.

1.Treasury, Tom Carper, Delaware Senator and former Governor
2.Commerce, John Lynch, former New Hampshire Governor, former State Party Chair and Businessman
3.Labor, Deval Patrick, former Massachusetts Governor, former Assistant U.S A.G for civil rights
4.Interior, Mark Udall, former Colorado Senator, former Executive Director State Outward Bound
5.Agriculture, Brad Henry, former Oklahoma Governor
6.Energy, Angus King, Maine Senator, former Governor, fmr Pres. Northeastern Energy Management
7.Transportation, Martin O'Malley, former Maryland Governor
8.Housing and Urban Development, Julian Castro, present HUD Secretary
9.Education, Christine Gregoire, Former Washington Governor
10.Health and Human Services, Michelle Nunn, 2014 U.S Senate Candidate, 1,000 Points of Light
11.Veteran's Affairs, Claudia Kennedy, Retired Army General,
12.Defense, Wesley Clark, Retired Army General, 2004 Presidential Candidate
13.State, Joe Biden, U.S Vice President
14.Homeland Security, Dianne Feinstein, California Senator, Homeland Subcommittee Member
15.Attorney General, Ed Rendell, former Pennsylvania Governor, former Philadelphia District Attorney

Edited:
A few more changes.  I just realized I didn't have a single visible minority member of the cabinet.  Also removed the remaining vulnerable sitting senators.

A couple more visible minority members and a Republican or two and Hillary is all set!

Whoever suggested Howard Bloom for Education had better have meant Harold Bloom. He'd be unbelievably, sickeningly terrible, but at least what he does for a living is related to education in a real way. Howard Bloom was a publicist for Prince, for God's sake, and the books and articles on scientific subjects that he has published generally aren't that highly regarded.

Actually, he was a publicist for Michael Jackson.  Not sure about Prince.

Secretary of Energy- Former Louisiana Senator John Breaux

Secretary of Homeland Security- California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom

Secretary of Defense- Former Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman

Thanks for playing!

1.Breaux, no way anybody in an oil producing state would be appointed to Energy
2.Newsom, wants to be California Governor
3.Lieberman, is that meant as a joke?
4.Arne Duncan, he'll have already been in Education for the entire Obama term.

I can easily see Michele Flournoy being appointed (and easily confirmed) as Defense Secretary.  Wouldn't she be the first woman in that position?

Also, if Loretta Lynch wins confirmation, Hillary could keep her on the way Obama kept Robert Gates as Sec-Def.

True, but there is not a doubt in my 'mind' that if Ed Rendell is in good health that he will be offered a position in a Hillary Clinton cabinet.

60-70% of the cabinet will be career people. Example - Robert Gates was primarily in the intelligence and Defense sectors of the government before becoming Defense Secretary. Another two examples - Ashton Carter and Condi Rice. Just look at Hillary Clinton's campaign advisors or whoever is considered the leading Democratic voice on x and y issue. They usually staff the Secretary and undersecretary posts. Ditto with the Republicans.

Most of the power resides in the White House, not the cabinet. Also putting a bunch of elected people who are more used to being show horses also causes problems for the White House. It's just better to give an experienced guy from your party who has experience with that agency and isn't from the elected world to run the agency.  There are exceptions but this is generally the rule.

If you read my other comments on this thread, you'll see that that just isn't true (at least not in modern times.)

In Bill Clinton's initial cabinet 8 of the 14 secretaries held prior elected office.
In George W. Bush's initial cabinet 9 of the 15 (after the addition of Homeland Security) held prior elected office.
In Barack Obama's initial cabinet 8 of the 15 secretaries held prior elected office.

Read that Former New Hampshire Governor John Lynch has no interest in getting back into politics, elected or otherwise, especially not if it involves going to Washington D.C.   So, had to drop him.

Added one more woman, and a Republican woman at that, dropped all the current U.S Senators.  Still not enough minorities, but otherwise I can send this list to HRC for acceptance.

I updated my list, and Angus King is replaced by Mark Udall.  There are no current Senators on my list.

I don't disagree that HRC will likely go for FOBs, which is why both Wesley Clark and Ed Rendell are on my list.  The only Democrat I know of who opposed her in 2008 who is on my list is Deval Patrick.

Full of 65-70 year old FOBs. The Clintons dont trust anyone else.

Really? name them.  And don't say "all of them", because they aren't.

I'll bet you didn't even look at my list.  I could have posted W Bush's first cabinet and you would have written the same thing.
