Two slightly different categories there but I'd go with the Irish Greens and the PCF.

Irish Labor probably. Even though they don't technically fit this bill, that's the role they play in Ireland. They're supposed to push one of the major parties to the left and they've done nothing.

Possibly Die Grunin. They haven't gotten too much out of the SPD.

Formerly the Socialist People's Party in Denmark.

Well for once I cannot say my own country's party; because the Austrian Greens are I guess one of the most successful in Europe Tongue

Lib Dems, Irish Labour, etc.

The Czech Greens seemed particularly pathetic when they went into coalition with Václav Klaus's Party, of all things, though I don't think they're really around anymore?

The French Greens definitely merit a mention, given their incompetence and their remarkable ability to screw everything up.

Tbf it's not like they are particularly bad in the context of 'French political parties'.

My votes would go to hapless Plaid Cymru, Palikot's Movement and the Socialist People's Party of Denmark.

Scottish Greens also deserve special mention for their ... Erm ... relationship with the petrostate.

Plaid does not fit any of the three categories. SPP is definitely not the most pathetic if you consider the competition.

Well Plaid seem to constantly attempt to fit themselves as a soft left alternative to the Labour machine to desperately reach out of their Cymrophone base - their current leader for one; so they do remind me of the awkward triangulation of the softy lefts that make up a lot of these parties.

I mainly chose the SPP because they seem very lost in terms of a political niche. The Reds-Greens safely occupy the True Left and the attempts for them to breach into 'Danish German Greens' seems to awkwardly clash with the Social Liberal niche. GroenLinks has a similar problem with niche finding - with D66 taking middle class bobos and the Socialists hovering up most leftist protesters.

SPP is a rather successful party with a rather stable base and in Danish contexts they have their own quite well established niche. They only look somewhat pathetic right now, because they made a failed attempt to move away from their niche into a broader one. They have more or less reestablished themselves  in their niche, and even if Unity List push them from the left, there's a lot of room to right to the Social Liberals, who really is the other real competition for their niche, the Social Democratic voters they got, they have lost already and they're not coming back, so they can mostly ignore the Social Democrats and focus on competing with RV and EL for voters.

GroenLinks is an obvious contender. Remember when they self-destructed over Kunduz etc. in an attempt to look very, very mature?

Given how well the SNP is polling in Scotland, it seems surprising that Plaid hasn't caught fire. Then again, maybe Welsh sucessionism isn't that popular of a position....

Welsh Labour haven't decided to commit seppuku.

Oh lol I forgot about that. Hilarious.

In fact, you could add D66 and its hilariously unstable base to the list.

Of course, but I do think they're still incompetent despite the poor competition. They've successfully thrown away their few chances at achieving a lasting breakthrough, for one.

I'd go with GroenLinks or the electorally unsuccessful green parties in Spain or Greece. On the hard-left, PCF is a safe bet. And British Lib Dems, of course (Cleggmaniac).
