I am truly saddened. This man has such dignity, grace, and experience. Would've made a fantastic president.

Sad

With recent events that have happened on this board, along with the news that Governor Romney will not be in the 2016 field, I think it is best that I step away from this forum. Anyone who would like to remain in contact with me is welcome to add me on Facebook.

Quite a gratuitous swipe at Jeb. One of the articles I read about Romney's deliberation said he and his wife noticed Jeb didn't do much to help him in 2012. But would Romney seriously help Christie of all people because he has a grudge from 2012? Or maybe he's just mad at Jeb for poaching all his donors this time and blames him for not being able to run.

I also don't believe Romney is fond of bush and won't endorse him unless obviously he wins the primary....if Romney endorses someone in the primary it will be either walker, rubio or christie

Well, this means that Rand Paul can win Utah.

Surely this will benefit Rand Paul in Nevada more than anywhere else? I think Romney's exit will help Paul's (In Nevada, New Hampshire).

Thank God!

Now, hopefully Jeb, Christie, and Rand step aside as well. Then we can finally get a conservative candidate to make the clear contrast with the Democrats that we haven't had since the Reagan era.

Sadly, this probably does help the establishment consolidate behind either Jeb or Christie.  If both run and remain in the top tier, there is a chance that the establishment vote will split and grassroots conservatives can finally win.

I will personally not be voting for any candidate who uses class warfare rhetoric and/or supports judicial supremacy when it comes to the definition of marriage

I assure you, none of them will be decent enough to do either of those things. You can rest easy.

Hmm, it seems Romney learned something from election night, 2012; just because those close to you think you will win doesn't mean people will vote for you.

Anyway, I agree that the "next generation" comment seemed quite a swipe at Jeb.  Interesting.

Most states restrict voting rights to actual people, I believe.

I wonder if he'll flirt with running in 2020 if Hillary wins next year.

That would be hilarious. But he'd be 73, so probably not.

Eh. I follow this kid on Twitter (not that he ever bothered to follow me back, but with his generation I don't expect much in the way of courtesy). Can't say we'll be missing much.

Though at his apparent rate of aging he'll live to be 150.

Rand Paul? He's got pretty conservative credentials. He's a Taft era conservative, not one of the religious right who hijacked the brand in the 1980's

No, no, no, Tmth is a forum institution and you're just too new to understand.

Not following someone on twitter is discourteous but this response of yours is ok?

Probably another reason why he ultimately ruled out a bid.
