In a nutshell, I'm likely heading to one of these cities for an Ingress-related reason. Atlanta would be February 21, Denver March 28. So the big question: Which one?

Advantages of Atlanta:
-I can meet and hang out with Bacon King!
-It's a bit sooner, and a weekend in February in Atlanta is probably more pleasant than in Minnesota
-Being a bit sooner also means I have less to worry about in something unexpected coming up.
-There's a good chance I'll be accompanied by another Minnesotan who travels to the city frequently for work.

Advantages of Denver:
-Plane tickets do seem to be slightly cheaper.
-I might be able to carpool with Iowa people, would take longer, but would be cheaper and I'd be accompanied by great people I know well.
-Denver is probably the city where my side needs more assistance.
-It being later gives me more time to make preparations, flip side of above.
-It's not a sprawling mess so getting around to locations is much easier. Atlanta's airport seems to sit south of most of the main city and a bit of a distance away from where I'd be heading, I'll probably have to make some transit arrangements.
-It's a state where something is legal...though that is also so easily obtainable in Minneapolis that's not much of an issue.

So?

Are you hoping to do/see anything or is it strictly for Ingress? If sightseeing is out if the question, go to Atlanta and warm up a little bit. If you'd have any extra time, go see the Rockies, which begin about an hour's drive to the west of  Denver. They are very much worth seeing.

Lean Denver

Both are excellent, but you seem to have made a compelling logistical case for Denver over Atlanta.

You should only ever be whisked /through/ Atlanta.  I'm not sure anyone has really been /in/ Atlanta for years, what with all the freeways and MARTA whisking people through it so well, albeit at frustratingly slow speeds at rush hour, when everybody seems to want to go through Atlanta simultaneously.

While I wouldn't say sightseeing is out of the question I won't have a car in either.

It's an Ingress event. I don't need a car. The locals will drive me around.

Flight booked! I'm going to Atlanta!

Though Denver remains a possibility, is a different date after all.
