A BILL to amend Article 13 of Chapter 2 of Title 26 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to food service establishments, so as to define a term; to provide that food service establishments which serve iced tea shall serve sweet tea; to provide for penalties; and for other purposes.

There are few things worse than ordering iced tea, expecting it too be sweet, and then finding it to be unsweet.  My love for sweet tea is one of the few things about me that are "Southern."

Freedom Bill (Yankee, but unsweetened iced tea is still the worst).

No wonder they're all so fat.

Someone posted an obesity map in another thread where the rates dropped off abruptly in Texas compared to Louisiana and Arkansas.

I credit this with our tea policy. You do not get sweet tea unless you ask for it, and you should never assume a restaurant is going to have it. If you are a sissy who expects your beverage to be sweet, you are welcome to open up some sugar packets and sweeten your own damn tea.

Horrible, but that has nothing to do with my opinion of sweet tea. It's horrible because it is yet another (minor in isolation, but not in aggregate) regulatory burden for restaurants to manage that will probably be enforced arbitrarily. Food regulations ought to be limited to those with a sound grounding in health or safety.

This bill is probably unconstitutional, but I support every restaurant having sweet tea.

Sweet tea is disgusting. I know Southerners find the taste of plain water sickening (see for example Bushie), but sweet tea doesn't even taste of tea anymore. It's just sugar. Indy Texas is absolutely correct that the rest of the South could learn a thing or two from Texas on this issue.

As much as I like sweet tea and dislike unsweetened iced tea, this law is unnecessary.
