I'd have to say Bush, since he became an outright Keynesian in the final months of his administration and was less keen on austerity in general.

Neither, as 'left-wing' would indicate support for worker's ownership of the means of production, the socialization of industry, and the expansion of not-for-profit public services. None of which Bush or Obama support. Both are liberals who support free markets, private ownership, and public-private 'partnerships' that deliver public services at a cost for private profit.

That's one of the most hilariously stupid things I've ever read on this forum, congrats.

Such is what happens when (a) you assume that Keynesianism, which has always been identified as a movement of the center against neoclassical and Marxist economics, is somehow representative of the left; and (b) when you buy into the idea that you can separate the economic, social, or foreign policy spheres when it comes to examining where a politician stands

Obviously Obama, though neither is/was overly far from the center, TBH.

Yes, Keynesianism is a center-left ideology. No, neither of these two men is even remotely Keynesian. That's the type of  simplistic argument I might've made in 6th grade in equating a stimulus package during a crisis with being outright center left.

Both are monetarists with pretty similar policies well to the right of anyone between Hoover and Nixon as a very basic starting point. Anyone after that you can debate. Obama is slightly to Bush's left, but it's still pretty obviously so despite the margin.

Don't even try to make national debt the basis for a counter argument if you want to try to tell me deficit spending makes these guys more left than FDR and the like.

Obama, although he's hardly a full-bore leftist.
