Relative I encountered would be a great-great-aunt who I met when I was a very small child (a photo of the two of us exists) who was born during the Taft administration, 1912. But when you say known -- that is, really interacted and spoke with -- it would have to be my great-grandfather, who was born during the Wilson administration (1919).

My great grandmother was in her eighties in the 90s and passed on my third birthday, so she was probably born in the 1910s. The oldest people that I can remember would of course be my great-grandparents, two of whom are still alive and both of which were born during either the Harding, Coolidge, or Hoover administrations.

Ah, well.  You're not the first person who has blindsided me.  True, it was a personal attack on Lief above all else, but the letter of the thread was no less appropriate than most of the other threads on this forum.

That said, I do agree with Lief's general frustration (in case that wasn't obvious already) and it was in the spirit of that agreement that I started the thread.  Then again, as Lief asked, perhaps rhetorically, in another of our most prolific poster's other highly inappropriate and pointless threads, if we stop them then what's the point of posting here?
