I voted no. Ultimately its a matter of not falling into the rhetorical traps that Romney did. So I don't think its absolutely imperative for whomever the GOP nominee is to pick a woman or minority.

However, I'd be inclined to agree that if they were going to go with one-or-the-other then a Hispanic would probably make more sense. Against Hillary, I don't see a woman running mate providing that much of a boost. Coupled with softer rhetoric, I could see how someone like Rubio could help the ticket.

I think Walker/Rice would be the best ticket.

I agree with this and it has little to do with Rice's gender or race.

Why do people think that someone who served in a top post in the very unpopular 2nd Term GWB administration would be some stellar VP pick? I'm honestly curious.

She's relatively popular, and familiar with the media and public.

If Scott Walker announces Condoleeza Rice as his running mate in eighteen months, the response won't be "Who?"

It would be big for the Republicans to nominate a woman of color, especially the most prominent woman of color in American political history. Some of the potential Republican nominees lack significant foreign policy experience, so she would be a good fit for Christie or one of the midwestern Governors.

Simply for the sake of picking a woman? They seemingly did that once already, and that strategy blew up in their face.

Are there women who are qualified to fit the VP spot, and deserve serious consideration? Absolutely. Picking any one of Martinez, Rice, Haley, and Ayotte might come along with talk of pandering and identity politics, but any insinuation that they're unqualified--coming from Democrats--will look a little silly.

This. As much as the American electorate is full of low information voters, they'll see an attempt by the Republicans putting a woman on the ticket as pandering. Didn't work in 2008 and it certainly won't work in 2016 when the push to have a woman in the White House will be of greater emphasis. If the Republicans genuinely want a woman on the ticket, why not nominate her to be at the top? Oh, wait... Although, it could be good for Democrats if they do to help with female voters; we can easily make the argument, "Look. We have a woman at the top of the ticket, and they're still stuck on putting a woman second in command after a man." (You see where I'm going with this.) Conversely, that argument could also help Republicans with men who feel "threatened" by having women in positions of power.

If they are that insistent and desperate about putting a woman on the ticket for sake of identity politics, I'd suggest Kay Bailey Hutchison, although her abortion views are a little iffy and may not pass the litmus test for the base. She comes from a red state, is conservative enough for both the establishment and (arguably) the teabaggers to support, and, unlike Palin, has the knowledge and experience needed in any presidential candidate. If I were a Republican looking for a woman, she'd have my vote.

What about an off the wall pick for VP here if an older man gets it lets say bush ( he does great with Hispanics and speaks the language fluently) / Def could be reaching here since she just got elected but would be interesting, what about Mia Love as VP for bush, young, good speaker, and could help with the African american vote, while bush should do better than most republicans with the Hispanic vote.

Oh so an older man should pick a 'wildcard women', you mean like in 2008 right? You remember how great Palin was.

Mia love? A 40 year old who has 2 years in congress? She makes Palin look experienced. I'd love the republicans to a mormon with no experience VP

KBH would be 73 in 2016.
