Can the former Tennessee Centrist Democrat give Mayor Bill de Blasio a competitive primary run in 2017? If he wins the nomination, will he increase the liberal vote in NYC or will they tune out due to his DLC centrism and Wall Street ties?

If anyone can beat De Blasio in the primary, it's Scott Stringer, who has formed a name for himself as the sane alternative to De Blasio's government. He beat the left's chosen candidate, Spitzer, in the race, and has butted heads with De Blasio several times.

Ford is a carpetbagger with no change.

I remember when Ford floated a primary challenge against Gillibrand in 2009. That went over like a lead balloon.

That was a funny one, though. I still have friends telling me that if he had won the TN Senate election in 2006, and had won reelection in 2012, he would be the Democratic favorite for veep for Hillary in 2016 due to his Southern roots.

He can appeal to blacks and soothing midwesterners, so yes, Harold Ford Jr. has a shot at NYC Mayor.

Yeah, and if Gore had won in 2000, Joe Lieberman would have been a frontrunner in 2008.  Instead of, you know, endorsing and actively campaigning with the GOP nominee instead.

You mean unctuous, corrupt, city pol with no integrity who will say just about anything to anybody.  Scott Stringer represents everything wrong with NYC politics.

This is all true, which makes it all the more remarkable that he is still the preferable option compared to DeBlasio.

I can see Ford running for Charlie Rangel's seat in 2016 (though he'd have problems in the primary), but Mayor of NYC is a huge stretch. Unless Democrats want t win Staten Island (at the expense of the other four boroughs) it won't happen

Well, if a Chuck Baldwin voting San Francisco Republican likes him, surely he's a shoo in for a NYC Democratic primary.

This is hilarious, and I'm going to assume it's an intentional joke. If so, bravo, sir.

Harold Ford Jr. is one of the most ridiculous idiots in Democratic politics.
