he's 'voluntarily' leaving the air for a short but indefinite period.  NBC is "conducting a probe into his past statements"

http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/chi-brian-williams-20150207-story.html

odds are pretty solid that he's done, but it's no lock.  the usual last straw in these cases are when sponsors start pulling out.. but will they, in this case?  it's not like he got caught being insensitive to some protected class of people.  we are all liars.  "lying is the only advantage man has over animals" - Dostoevsky.

Brian Williams is definitely done, and I suspect NBC Nightly News will follow (or face a serious revamp). That said, it isn't the end of NBC or Comcast, and if Nightly News does remain, the next person to helm it will likely come from outside NBC's ranks (or be Rachel Maddow). This might also affect MSNBC, leading to a less liberal friendly program and sacking/reassignments for Al Sharpton, Lawrence O'Donnell and Rachel Maddow in favor of actually reporting news.

NBC's entertainment and sports divisions should face minimal if any effects.

Allison Williams should also have to resign from Girls as she is only a successful actress because of her father who is only anchor because of his Iraq coverage which was only infamous because of his lie.

+ she never shows her tits (or does she? Haven't watched Girls since the beginning of Season 2).

He'll never host the nightly news again. We all know where this leave of absence will go.

Sad. Lester Holt obviously deserves the job.

Time to get rid of Matt Lauer too.

Yeah, if they're getting rid of Williams, they probably should get rid of Lauer. While he doesn't fudge his news (that we know of), he's just as unprofessional and a terror to other employees. Maybe they should have Al Roker host today instead...

That's childish; Ms. Williams is a very fine actor.

No. Holt has been doing the heavy lifting for years. He deserves it.

You could call her Allison Williams. You aren't her spokesperson.

Can you imagine if they picked Matt Lauer to replace him? Ugh.

Hope so. More people need to watch NBC News less anyway. If you want network, Scott Pelley at CBS is much, much better.

Rachel Maddow isn't going to be sacked or demoted unless she commits a crime of some sort. She's definitely got some trust and appreciation within her workplace, seeing as she's been leading election night coverage ever since Olbermann got sacked.

Am I the only one who doesn't care about this? Or the only one who thinks it's odd that Brian Williams is one of the only people being punished for lying about something in Iraq?

Seems to me, for all the people who told us lies about Iraq, Brian Williams is the last person we should sh**t on. For one he's actually apologized, and two, nobody died because of his lie.

The shame is how pointing out this obvious fact in a media setting would really put an end to his career.
