The voting period has now ended. Lief has been elected Chair and Barnes has been elected Vice Chair.

I would like to personally thank the party for the endorsement that they have given me. I look forward to working towards our common goals and serving our party in the coming months. Thank you.

I thank the Party for its support. I am truly humbled and honored, and will to the best of my ability fight for this Party and by extension the Atlasian Worker and continue to build on the success of the past few months.

I would like to congratulate Lief and Barnes on their victory.

I would like to say as well that I'm perfectly happy with the current labor party. There is a great unity between the members and this is cool. There is as well a high turn over (I'm the 2nd most senior laborite while I'm just starting my second term) so this is cool. There are many promising newbies who will be able to be elected soon representatives, senators, governors, VP and president in the future. I'm really happy with that.

The other thing that makes me really happy is that despite not being totally united ideologically, we manage to accomplish great things and to pursue our agenda of progress. I believe this is this reason that for instance Lief has become extremely active in this political simulation: because he believes he will be able to pursue his progressive agenda Smiley.

So, tldr: I'm really happy with all of you!

Thank you for the very kind words, Windjammer! Smiley

The remaining business before the convention is the approval of the by-laws and the endorsement of the party platform.  It is my hope that we can finish our business by this week to allow the new Labor Administration to get underway in full.

[BYL]
I lay before the convention the full by-laws of the Labor Party as they stand now.

Any party member shall have twenty-four (24) from now to object to the automatic approval of the by-laws.  If any objections are made, members shall be able to propose and debate amendments to the by-laws.  If none are made, the by-laws will stand approved.

[PLA]
As Vice Chair, the party platform is my primary responsibility.  I will examine the platform as it stands from the last party convention in October.  I will then make any edits or additions as I deem them to be necessary.  Following that, I will lay the platform before the convention for general debate and approval.

Comrade Griffin has suggested to me the following amendments to the by-laws, highlighted in red:

I have no problems with the introduction of VII-C seeing as it allows for a process for members to suspend it if so desired.

A further note, seeing as our distinguished Chairman has proposed amendments, any further amendments are now in order for a period of 24 hours.  Additional time may be granted by the Politburo if the convention so requests.

Do we currently have a General Secretary? Because if not I think we should strike that position from the bylaws (as its powers aren't even defined in section 5 anyway). I think we should also consider appointing regional secretaries (if we don't already have them?), to both increase focus on our regional activity and give more Labor Party members a chance to take part in the Politburo.

The position of General Secretary was eliminated at the last convention. It's inclusion in the by-laws was a typo that I erroneously transferred here. It has been edited.

Currently, the positions of Regional Secretaries are in flux. I would enthusiastically support creating them as full members of the Politburo.

Yes, it's weird that the Politburo consists of only two members. I'll be introducing an amendment to the bylaws shortly that will include five Regional Secretaries in the Politburo.
