Pope says it's OK to spank children if you don't demean them

[Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.]

This is kind of disappointing. I'd argue that while this may, technically, be true, spanking is kind of inherently demeaning to the point where the difference is academic. Which is kind of similar to what I understand of the Vatican's position on capital punishment, come to think of it.
