Windjammer is not automatically endorsed since he's not a member of The Party. While I  had planned on voting for his endorsement, his private message bullying campaign against Bacon King - and I can attest that Bacon King had mentioned this to me several weeks ago - is making me reconsider. I'd suggest that we don't endorse a candidate in that race.

I am supposed to be on a LOA, of course, so I probably won't be commenting on this again, but it's left a bad taste in my mouth.

What exactly does a reformed Labor Party look like? Was the coalition in July 2013 unreformed? As you already know, I am exhausted with this line of talking points. You led the party for a term in the wake of my de-registration: what reforms were implemented during that time?

Furthermore, the competitiveness of the election is indicative of the caliber of the candidates and not some flaw that falls on our heads. One is a long-standing Senator with an objectively moderate record. The other is about to be impeached for going MIA for the third or fourth time, from the looks of it. Obviously we weren't going to run a joke candidate just so the masses could have a competitive election for the sake of having one. The fact is that most elections aren't competitive. I wonder how the sentiment this cycle compares to the elections in which Lumine, Duke, Polnut, etc all faced non-competitive climates.

Order! I call on Vice Chair Sawx to expel this Labor saboteur at once. I would also implore my fellow party members to remember the balance of power when they cast their ballots.

I hope the convention at least gives consideration to a re-vote, though I understand if you don't.

Was exactly what I was hoping. Ballot extended to February 14 at 2:00 AM. I'm also going to apologize in advance if I forget to close the vote because it's going to be a Friday night.

Seeing as The Party is currently debating whether to endorse me, maxwell or neither for the presidency, I would like to address the convention:

I believe, simply put, that I represent the best the values The People hold dear. I have always supported a foreign policy that is neither too hawkish nor too dovish. In the last senate, for instance, I strongly supported a bill to allow us to sell arms in cases like World War II, or the present situation in the Middle East. Similarily I have always pushed for a moderate position on labor issues. While, obviously I am in favour of labor unions and think they have and continue to be a force for good in the world, in the senate I also basically co authored a bill (with, of all people Cassius) to force public sector unions to actually reflect the views of their members before striking, and, as oakvale alluded to earlier, I voted against my party (and, initially at least, a federalist) to continue to ban A and E doctors from striking. It is telling that my voting record in the senate, and the evidence will bear this out, is practically the same as Senator Polnut.

There has been a lot of concern in this thread about a vote for bore/BK being a vote for some nefarious labor agenda. My record in atlasia shows that I should not be tarred with this brush. Even during my last campaign, against no less a person than a member of this party, and during probably the nadir of TPP's relationship with my own party, Nix, who seems to be stressing this point the most, endorsed me saying:

You've been an active, reliable, and independent representative of the Northeast since I was President. From the Basic Income Guarantee to Repeal of Useless Laws, I am proud of everything that we have accomplished together since then. Endorsed!

Nothing since then, as Lumine and TNF and Polnut and everyone else involved in the government of the country over the last 4 months can confirm, has changed. I remain committed to voting for what is best for my region and my country, regardless of what the majority of my party wants. And I think I share this pragmatism and general centre left outlook with TPP.

Thank you for your attention.

This party has been about strong convictions and pragmatic leadership, and though I am not a member of your party, I would be remiss if I didn't ask for the chance to be endorsed by this Party.

I've spent a lifetime representing people, whether it's riving a dead region in the Midwest, expanding NASA and cutting government in the Senate, or growing the economy and expanding people's rights in the IDS. It's a matter of getting things done, being willing to negotiate, while at the same time fighting for what you believe.

As President of Atlasia, my biggest goal is to bring regional and federal governance together, and making the game a more exciting experience. As you all know I've bucked party establishment here or there because I believe in what I believe, and that includes major pieces of game reform that have been introduced over the years. But I think the biggest reform we can make is the approach we take toward regions. We need to include Governors in the thinking process, and that's what I plan to do - steamline a system that informs Governors of bills affecting them, get their input on issues, and making sure we don't trample over what they do.'

My approach to governance is one of responsibility. I won't irresponsibly put your son or daughter into a war that ends up a quagmire. I will bridge the Senate to find the economic solutions we so desperately need (a reduction in inflation and a hike in employment numbers). And finally, I will do my best to search for the best cabinet we've seen since the days of Nix.

Thank you for hearing me out, gentlemen, whoever you vote for, Atlasia is going to get a workhorse. I just happen to think I'm a sturdier one Wink

I'll ring in and say I like Bore and maxwell. Politically I line up with Bore more than maxwell given I'm not a fan of libertarians because I think most of them are kids who don't know much about life, but I'll chime in and say I am concerned about the Labor Party having a majority in the senate and the presidency only because of the disaster that was the DemPGH administration.

I know Bore isn't him, and I know BK is on the ticket and he's one of us, so I'm inclined to lean towards that ticket, but that concern remains. The debacle involving the attempt to nationalize our energy sector just because it adhered to the "nationalize everything" mantra still lingers in my mind, especially because it took so long to actually have people back off and realize what harm it would do.

It should be apparent now to any who has looked at the numbers and counted the votes that this convention will likely choose the next president of Atlasia. As it is, the way the electorate is currently divided between Right and Left, our party holds the balance of power. That is a remarkable circumstance, and it behooves remarkable action on our parts.
I am a member of The Party for a reason. When other factions pave the way for demagogues, disfunction, and inactivity, The People's Party stands for pragmatism and reasonableness. We are not a party to be swayed by grudges or shallow reasoning, for we stand for the inherent wisdom of The People.
The candidates for the endorsement of this party are both honorable men. Both have served this country well and have proven themselves to be capable statesmen and citizens. Yet in particular, I can think of no better man to represent this party than Senator Bore. As a public servant, he has shown himself not only pragmatic, but amiable; he has, throughout his time in Atlasia, shown his commitment to sound policies and compromise. While a Laborite, he has not been afraid to break with his party when he thought they were wrong. That is the kind of leadership in Nyman.
There are those who, whether for personal dislike of other members of the Labor Party or concern over that party's radicalism, have moved to deny Senator Bore the endorsement of this convention. This is a mistake. As Senator Polnut, a former president and former chairman of this party, has testified, Senator Bore is a committed pragmatist and a proven leader. To reject him as a symbolic rebuke of TNF, or Windjammer, or DemPGH is the kind of short-sighted, shallow reasoning that we deplore in other parties. I hope we will have the wisdom to lend him our full support.
