NAY

Polnut and Hagrid do have their points when they think this should be carefully planned and exactly outlined.

Putting in a concrete date is a very bad idea- we have no idea how long the regions will take to ratify this.

I don't disagree - but having a fluffy timeline invites a lack of incentive to action.

A concrete date is going to be hard to accomplish; perhaps we can investigate allocating the powers to the DoFE to set it stone for the first occurrence? I'll be ready to offer this after the vote concludes:

I suppose I'd prefer a window.

I must say I like the idea behind Griffin's amendment. Putting it at discretion of the DoFE while still keeping a window that is neither to wide nor to tight is I belive the best solution I have yet heard in this discussion.

If you want, I could sponsor the amendment it right now, so it will be passed/rejected swifter? I do understand it also however if you want to introduce it yourself.

My amendment:

Simple, I hate special elections. Considering it often happens that a senator resigns, I believe his party should still be able to hold his seat. And my amendment wants to restore fairness, why should the Class B Senate Seats have special elections but not the Class A? Now, there would be no special election.

Oppose. As we saw this weekend, special elections are one of the more exciting things in this game (and the loss of national special elections is one of the reasons I am likely to vote against the final amendment).

Aye

As I read it, Special Elections are still there, just not after three weeks before the election? That would make sense to me...

I oppose this. I think the date for stopping special elections should be a week before the election date.

So are we just taking the changes made to the PRA of 2014 and applying them to regional seats, too? Because in the case of at-large seats, this is already the case. Wasn't the wording in the PRA "less than 35 days before the end of the term", though? I remember we cleaned that up for a reason.

Nay

I don't think that the party should still be able to hold the seat because we are speaking of district elections and a citizen can vote for a candidate regardless of his party affiliation. District elections are about the candidate, not only the party...

Because I never got clarification:

NAY

I am not against parties being able to appoint its own members to fill seats in the weeks of a term, but the reason I am voting against this is that it appears to use old language ("three weeks before an election") rather than the 35-day window we specified in PRA of 2014.
