This is a risky geo-political move. Normally, the Senator normally doesn't advocate that we take sides in the Middle East.

While I'm not currently part of this honorable body I must urge the senate fail this act. The PKK has actively aided the Islamic State In the senseless killing of Christians and other religious and ethnic minorities without reason or cause. Members of the PKK were amongst those involved in the senseless burning of the Jordanian pilot.

And you sure got sources to prove that Roll Eyes

Has the Former Senator got some proof of his claims?

I will not take sides in internal Kurdish issues - the PKK has done good work for its own people, but just because it's a 'Worker's Party' doesn't mean that it's a positive actor. It has done, equally, terrible things to political opponents and to foreign forces.

I will support the cause of strong Kurdish autonomy, but will not pick the PKK as "our" choice.

I agree with the President here. This tactic virtually guarantees Turkey will not positively engage in the issue of Kurdish recognition. Their involvement is necessary.

Senator, you do know Turkey (a key ally whose help is crucial not only to defeat ISIS, but to secure the stability of the region) is very close to marching on Northern Iraq, do you?

Would you really advocate for a path that could leads us into an even worse situation for the sake of holding talks that already look pretty hard to accept to many of the interested nations?

We need to strike the right balance of supporting Kurdish autonomy and that our friend and ally needs to be respected.

It shouldn't be THAT hard to construct some words.
