I believe that giving people a breathalyzer with every car purchase will help diminish drunk driving. It essentially raises the question of "Are you too drunk to drive?" when you look at your keys, and having that question posed to them could cause people to actually not get behind the wheel of a car.

So yes, I proposed this bill to create a people-based solution to the problem of drunk driving, as opposed to a law-based one.

We had a spirited discussion about this bill in the thread that was deleted.  The one thing then Speaker SirNick and I were concerned about was cost.  Did we ever ascertain the cost and whether dealers were required to provide a disposable or permanent breathalyser?

I had mentioned (and I believe we had offered an amendment) to the effect of this in order to keep costs down and ensure that the units were ones that did not require refills or that were disposable:

Yeah, we did have an amendment like that. I'll accept it as friendly.

Unless anyone has any objections to the cost with the included amendment, I will open up a final vote on this, later this afternoon.

By a vote of 4-0-1, the bill has passed, and will be sent to the governor for his signature or veto.
