In late 2013 Chris Christie was set to be the establishment front-runner of a well-financed campaign where he can argue he was most electible. That dream seems to be gone, and now Bush is in that posiiton. This has been an especially bad week for him, spawning headlines like:
Politico: Chris Christie Week-long Trainwreck
USA Today: Chris Christie's Very Bad Week
Slate: Are Christie's Legal Woe's Just Beginning?
WSJ: Probes Spook Some Christie Backers

And polls show that he is running fourth in NH, which is a must win state for him.

Christie (who reportedly likes to live the high life) is going to need a lot of money to go up against Bush. When Romney saw that he couldn't compete with the Bush money machine he decided against running (and he was actually doing pretty well in the polls).

Gov. Fatso here has too large of an ego to not run. He'll run.

He may have waited too long while Walker has been riding high in polls. Now, he has to see any weakness in either Jeb or Walker to run, besides ethics. No, not right now.

I wonder who could run further. This guy or his biggest fan? Has Christie ever walked 2/3 of a mile?

Yes, simply because he has nothing to lose. He's out of the governor's office in 2017 anyway, and if the GOP loses in 2016 nobody's going to be hungering (no pun intended) for "Christie '20!"

no.  he's had a bad few years, and Jeb's consolidating the big money.  hope for a Jeb loss and Christie is in good position for 2020 -- spend a few years working behind the scenes securing donors, rehabilitating image, scathingly criticize Hillary, etc.

I think that Chris Christe will still run, but I do not see him winning the nomination due to his scandals and the fact that he is not particularly liked at all by the Republican Party base. That being said, I still think that Chris Christe will probably end up winning most of the primaries in the Northeast such as New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, etc.

What Chris Christie should do after the Republican primaries end is to try to rehabilitate his image during his last 2 years as governor and from that point, run for Senate in 2018 against Bob Menendez. While I am not sure if Christie could defeat Menendez, he could be competitive against him, especially if 2018 turns out to be disastrous for the Democrats.

You can exercise a lot and even be in great exercise shape yet still be fat if you eat a lot.

Yes, I think he will. If he runs in the primaries he will win New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania in the primaries.

I think he'll run, but not win.  Which feels weird, considering how I felt about him a year ago.

If Christie is the nominee and with all his baggage,  he'll have to pick a dull running mate to prevent both candidates from embarrassing the GOP.

Voted no. Scandals tainting his administration + pretty far left for a Republican = no chance at winning. I do think there's a chance he'll run, but <50%.

If Bush doesn't run, then Christie (and every other Republican) will run.

Yeah, I was thinking that he would be the nominee this time around after the 2012 cycle came to a close. I think I'm probably one of the few people who hasn't completely discounted him, but it is becoming increasingly hard to see an opening for him.

Of course he'll run, because being a "moderate" totally helps your chances of winning.

Even if Bridgegate/every other minor scandal the media doesn't report on but would come out in a primary never happened, he wouldn't have won.

Bush and a few others of the establishment wing would have come in and crowded him out.

He will run and be the nominee. He's not nearly as far into the wilderness as McCain was, and Republicans spent a whole year looking for Romney alternatives before finally settling on him.

Republicans eventually pick the electable moderate-ish (not really, but perceived that way) candidate whose "turn" it is. For 2016, that's Christie.
