I've always been under the impression he's acted as if he knew he would only serve one term, so he went on a six year conservative blitz. And his mindset is if he gets a second term, then great.

Honestly, I could see it being pretty tempting, if you got elected kind of unexpectedly, to just vote with your conscience for six years and leave, voters and donors be damned.

Hardly anyone in Wisconsin knows who Ron Johnson is.

The only good that I can say about him is that he doesn't have sticky fingers, he hasn't been caught consorting with whores, and that he isn't the New Joseph R. McCarthy.

Honestly, if he were to try and moderate right before the election, he'd probably come off as somewhat phony, and be in even more trouble.

Politician promises that he will not abandon his principles to win re-election.  In other news, bear craps in the woods.  More at 11!

He deserves credit for not trying to be a fake moderate.

The thing about Johnson is he's promised to be a very right-wing Senator... and he's voted that way. For all the talk of Johnson and Walker hating eachother, they've gone similar paths with their governance, and I'm fascinated to see if Johnson sees similar success.

I have friends who worked on his campaign and spoke highly of him. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he wins reelection due to his authenticity.

Johnson slammed Walker over attacks on Burke, and in return, Walker made fun of a "certain Senator" who is too concerned over the debt.

No politician ever says they're going to be more liberal/more conservative in the face of an upcoming election. None of the Red State Dems from the 2014 cycle ever said "I'm going to be more conservative than usual", but everyone who looked at their voting record could tell what they were doing.

Expect Johnson/Kirk/Toomey to state their firm beliefs in conservative policies, while also throwing the occasional vote for moderate/liberal bills to brag about.

I think he is referring to more about the gun issue, and 2nd amendment rights than anything else, because he hasn't sponsored any bipartisan legislation.  Toomey and Kirk has, but they contributed to the gridlock and fillibustering of bills outside the gun background check.

Republicans know this doesn't help. I don't know why Democrats haven't figured it out.
