Given we're talking about a GOP Congress that's sole purpose is to oppose Obama, it's not going to pass.

I'm thinking it'll fail 239-194 in the House (Stivers, Hunter, Peter King, Dold and Sensenbrenner breaking ranks for the resolution), and 55-45 against in the Senate (With Bernie Sanders and Rand Paul as notable voting against, and Kelly Ayotte and Tom Cotton voting for the resolution)

That's the way to go. Hopefully Republicans won't continue to act like hypocritical, irresponsible obstructionists when the safety of the world is at stake.

You would be saying the exact same thing about American entry in WWII. "The first war in Europe turned out great, why not another?"

But then as soon as the USSR was invaded you would change your tune on a dime. You're just so predictable.

No hypocrit here.  I absolutely support giving the President this approval.

However, something tells me the red avatars would be b*tching and moaning if this were a Republican President.

I was talking about Congressional Republicans.

How many Congressmen who voted against the other Iraq War in 2003 are still around?  Are any who voted against the War in 1991 still in office?

Anyone who votes against all is a true American statesman (or stateswoman).

Even when Obama asked for a strike on Syria after Assad was literally gassing his own people, Republicans blocked it as a petty political attack.

So why no attempt to arrest Bush for using white phosphorus in urban areas? Or an authorization to bomb Israel when they bombed UN hospitals? American foreign policy is not and never has been about protecting innocents.

Barbara Boxer
Dick Durbin
Pat Leahy
Barbara Mikulski
Patty Murray
Jack Reed
Debbie Stabenow
Ron Wyden

There's a lot in the house, but the party split was 127/6 D to R. Of the six Republicans, only one is still in Congress today, John Duncan (TN-2).

We do not need another war in Iraq, period.

Of these, Mikulski and Leahy are the only ones who voted against the first Iraq War.

I totally expect that if approved, this will just turn into attacking Assad and whoever else the White House wants to get rid of. I've been saying this for a while, but we need to get out of the Middle East and stay out of the Middle East.

As evil as ISIS is, this is not the way to go.

As much as I would love to see the U.S. send troops to handily defeat these murderous scumbags, House Republicans care more about opposing Obama than they do standing up for what's right, and I don't expect that to change.

Even when Obama asked for a strike on Syria after Assad was literally gassing his own people, Republicans blocked it as a petty political attack.
Have you ever thought that invading Syria to remove Assad/ISIS isn't the right thing to do?

Essentially, that's what this is.  It specifically does not allow ground combat operations, except rescues and special operations.

I'd like to see some opponents of this talk to some Yazidis, Assyrians, or Armenians.

This is Europe in 1944, not Iraq in 2003.
