This doesn't seem too bad at face value. I'll see how it plays out and how it affects the IL economy before developing an official opinion on it.

On election day, the voters stood with the People's Pat in supporting a raise in the minimum wage. I'm sure they'd be against this nonsense as well.

Rauner didn't go through his entire campaign without mentioning right to work. The people knew what they were voting for.

As for the minimum wage, a strong majority of the whole country (myself included) is standing with Quinn there, so it's not anything remarkable that IL agrees with Quinn on it.

Using the phone and pen, I see. More interesting is that Madigan didn't seem implacably opposed. Should be interesting to see what deals he and Rauner cook up.

As was mentioned below, the people of IL voted in a governor who was very clear about cracking down on the unions.  They flatly rejected the People's Pat.

But did they really?

Who didn't see this coming? I mean, this is the same corporate thug who also wants to make it so unions can't contribute to campaigns and supports lowering the minimum wage below federal minimum.

He'll abuse his power by any means necessary to get his agenda passed. I'll be happy to see the day he gets convicted for something.

I think he wants the good old days of the Pullman Strike, where you get to kill union-members, too.

In the State of the State last month, Rauner asked for an increase to the minimum wage. He differs from the Dems in that he asked for $10 over seven years and the Dems are pushing for $11 over four years. The likely result is that since Rauner wants a package of other business reforms (workers comp, unemployment insurance, tort reform), he will negotiate on the minimum wage to get that.

They're either doing this kind of thing or trying to institute a fundie theocracy; I hope this exec order is overturned. At this point, conscience prevents me from voting for a Republican.

See, this time, which thread you decided to post in and what you decided to post in it are both uninteresting.
