I hope no one gets the wrong idea about why I structured the minimum wage bill the way I did. It was not my intent that they should be treated unfairly or put in a position where they got screwed on the flip side, my intention was to encourage employers to get back in the game so to speak with allowing tips.

I'd rather we just banned the practice altogether and be done with it.

We now have 3 separate bills on this sort of issue on the floor, could we maybe combine them all into one bill?

Would the giving of tips by customers still be allowed. Some businesses ban this (treat it the same as bribe). Granted if they are brought up to the normal wages, perhaps it doesn't matter, but I would loath to take money out of a poor person's pocket. Sometimes, you can get some substantial amounts through tips.

And most times, you are better off if you are paid a decent wage and not have to beg for tips so you do not starve that night.

But no, I don't see it anywhere that tipping is prohibited now, just that tipped employees are paid the same wage as everyone else, and that employers may not encourage tipping.

And who the hell is advocating for that here? Tongue

No one, that will just remain the case if we allow tipped employees to be paid less than other employees Tongue

Given that this proposal has been wholly incorporated into the other bill, I motion we table it.

Windjammer, are you okay with tabling it?

I ask because it's quicker for the sponsor to withdraw it than for the senate as a whole to table it.

I just have a question.
Am I dreaming or TNF wants to withdraw both the bills? Tongue

Both this bill and TNF's one have effectively been rolled into this one: https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=207236.25
