Both kinda suck in their own ways.

Indianapolis has low cost of living, good job opportunities, and is okay to raise a family or go to college, but is rather dull (it's Indiana, folks). Nawlins has far more in the culture category, but has a horrible climate, crime problems (IIRC), hurricanes, and worst of all it's in the Deep South.

Voted Indy because I'm more familiar with it and dislike the South.

I lived in New Orleans for five years. I wouldn't do it again. The crime and corruption are so out of control, and it's surrounded by stinky, humid, swamps. That said, I wouldn't mind being there right now for Mardi Gras. So much fun!

Indianapolis, drove there and had a nice stop on the way to Chicago.

It has it's own quiet niceness about it, sorta like a mini Twin Cities sort of thing. Seems like it'd be nice enough to live in, and the climate is far better.

So close call, but Indianapolis wins it.

New orleans has so much going for it, but the crime and economy are so bad. I'll still give it the edge by a nose, though.

How is Indianapolis dull?

It's the home of DUDE FEST for crying out loud.

It's weird to hear people describe the city where I've had the most fun of my life as "dull".

Nawlins. Better food, and just less boring across the board.

We don't play Ingress and we don't go to Dudefest.  It's as simple as that.

Woah the warmer place is winning for once. Voted Indianapolis myself. Even if New Orleans has a more interesting culture it's less of a necessity for me than a temperate climate and avoiding poverty and crime.

Doesn't Nawlins have the highest murder rate in the United States?

No, but it's in the top 10 I believe.

Here is the list, Al.  #2

That list isn't fair because of the population requirement. If it wasn't for all the murders, Camden might have been eligible.

This x 10. Besides, man, even you have to acknowledge from the standpoint of a 1Dudefest attendee that it's prescence in Indy one weekend a year makes only a passing case for living there the other 51 every year.

Nawlins, because I love seafood, especially fried catfish & shrimp, as well as poboy sandwiches.

Tough. New Orleans has a lot of advantages (actually interesting), but a fair few disadvantages (high crime rate, poor climate, etc.) But Indy is just boring.

I guess New Orleans, but it's close.
