Contentious nomination battles on both sides. For the Republicans, a grand feud between the heirs to the conservative and moderate wings of the party, with a few also-rans thrown in the mix for good measure. For the Democrats, President Humphrey faces the disadvantage of a primary challenge from the man who crafted the post-1968 primary process. Should Humphrey's renomination campaign stumble, some are speculating that an establishment choice such as Vice-President Muskie or Senator Jackson is prepared to enter the fray.

Humphrey, but I'll go with Muskie if need be [just as I did in AATL].

Anyone but Humphrey (or probably not Wallace either), but I'll so with Reagan edging out Romney.

supposedly prevented a riot between police and VVAW during the '72 GOP convention, if we're to believe what HST wrote in the book (which is always tricky business)

Why is McGovern winning the Dem nomination by so much? I don't get it. We've got a perfectly good President Humphrey.
