I'm happy to be firmly ensconsed in 12th place.  I can't believe how many posts I've made here.  Ugh.

What percent of your posts would you guess dealt with bitching about the Mods?  Tongue

I don't know, but since the point system went by the boards, I don't recall any subsequent complaints.  Now that I can't get knicked for 5 points for being inappropriate, it's a good place again.
Speaking of points, is it odd to have 600 posts but no points? Am I doing something right?

Well the point system went away so you won't get any.  I probably had 20,000 before it took effect.  Very few deletions (43), for my post count and most I knew would be removed.
It's still there, sort of. Unless you are a commercial spammer or a sock, you only get 1 point per infracted post. Your posts would end up getting discussed in the mod cave well before there would be any possibility of you racking up enuf points for even a software generated warning, let alone a point-imposed period of being on mod review or being muted.

Sure, there has to be some system in place like that.  But the old system was a disaster, and since it left us, the toxic relationships that existed because of it have died down to nothing now.

Yesterday was the most active day on the forum since July 25th (the first day of the DNC).  Still nowhere near the highs of primary season, when people were talking about actual election results.  I guess we won't match those until election day (assuming the server doesn't crash).

Yesterday was the most active day since July 25th, almost surpassing July 19th to be the second most active day since the end of the primary season.

Posts update (because why not):

1) BRTD 77,976  (+163)
2) Al 60,606 (+50)
3) Lewis 58,620 (0)
4) Phil 52,849 (-2)
5) opebo 47,130 (0)
6) Kal 44,072 (+317)
7) Eraserhead 41,957 (+62)
8 ) Antonio 41,230 (+660)
9) Tender 40,512 (+125)
10) Lief 40,144 (+143)

Antonio has made 660 posts in 18 days, a rate of almost 37 a day. He should pass Eraserhead by November 1st, and will pass Kal (!) in 5 months, by which point he'd be 2 days away from passing opebo.

Lief should pass Tender in exactly 1 year.

Important note: Given his recent posting rate, Dave Leip should reach 3000 posts within the next three weeks or so.

I think that's his point...get a gf that doesn't care if you're a politics nerd.  Anybody that wouldn't date someone because they post on a politics board shouldn't be dated by somebody that posts on a politics board.

With this post I officially become the 300th top poster here. It took me just over 300 days, and is now making me very sad.

Side note: since I joined, Tony has made approximately 5,700 posts.

I was being semi-sarcastic, but this is also true. You really need someone who you feel you can be yourself with.

Did you just f**king call me a nerd? Just because I now have to wear glasses makes me a nerd? You know who you are: a prejudiced dick.

Screw you all. If anybody needs me, I'll be in my basement.

Everybody is a nerd, we just chose to nerd out about different things....and to different levels.  A politics/maps nerd is no better or worse than a football nerd or a fashion nerd.

We're nearing the end of October, and so far total activity on the forum this month is already well past activity in Oct. 2008 or 2012.  And it's looking very possible that this month will set a new record for most active month in the forum's history.  We'll just have to wait and see how it unfolds over the next few days.

Looks like today may have been the most active day on the forum (by number of new posts) since Nevada caucus/South Carolina primary day back in February.  Due in large part to a 40+ page thread about Clinton emails...

This despite the forum design looking like something from the previous century (perhaps because it almost literally is) and despite the fact that the entire concept of online discussion boards peaked around 2005.
