I guess it does take a Nazi to know one, but in this case, you are still wrong.

And yes, I don't believe in rewarding lawbreakers. I don't support mass deportation, but the life in the shadows is punishment in itself.

While I support the substance of the order, Obama really likes to push the absolute boundaries of executive power (and this is the least of them, the most glaring being him unilaterally declaring the Senate in recess), so I'm always glad to see him get some pushback.

The executive order is a temporary one and should be followed by an act of congress. Halting the deportation of illegals, should be only used in limited fashion, but Congress has to follow suit.

Good work by this judge.

I honestly have nothing against immigrants, I just don't like the thought of it happening illegally and those who break the law being rewarded.

I guess it's competence vs compassion.

Judges are never activist when the Republicans win. Like that 5-4 SCOTUS ruling tossing a century old Montana campaign finance law wasn't activism because the Republicans won.

You should probably reconsider your position if you have to preface it with "I honestly have nothing against immigrants, I just don't like...".  It's like how people who begin their arguments by saying "I honestly have nothing against black people, but..." are almost always racists.

Sanchez, I hope you'll take this criticism as constructive. This is the strangest moderate hero position on this issue I've ever heard. Even if we take it for granted that the morally appropriate punishment for illegally entering a country is being forced to eke out a tenuous, fearful existence within that country like El-ahrairah or something, it doesn't serve any imaginable public good. I guess you could make an argument that it allows a supply of cheap labor without the regulations and entitlements that openly integrating these people into the legal economy would entail, but if you were to claim that that constitutes a public good I'm afraid I'd have to strenuously and unambiguously disagree with you. It's the worst of both worlds, kind of like the Versailles Treaty: It's not harsh enough to serve the purpose of deterring future illegal entry, and it's not humane enough to serve the purpose of ensuring that people have a decent life.
