The second most spoken language in the US.

I do not know it.  I took a couple of years of it in high school, and didn't get very far then.  However, since I know several words, I might give learning Spanish another try.

No. It's the reason that I have to do a year at community college before heading to FSU, and is my biggest High School regret.

I'm currently taking intermediate Spanish at college.  I plan to study abroad for a semester in Spain so that I can become fluent.  I have to put no, because even though I can read and write a good bit of Spanish, I can't have a true conversation.

Not anymore.  After a bunch of bad experiences in High School and Middle School, I became disillusioned with it and took another language last year.

Eine bessere Sprache.

I'm pretty rusty but I think I still know Spanish.  I studied spanish from a private tutor starting at the age of 5.  I took four years in high school and a couple of semesters in college.  In high school I went to interscholastic competitions (sort of like the math tourneys but with language instead) and won some first-place trophies.  In one of my university courses, we had to read El Ingenioso Hidalgo Don Quixote de la Mancha (written in 16th century Spanish) and write a book report on it (in 20th Century Spanish, back when we all used type writers.)  Later, I worked as an English-Spanish interpreter for an ESL program when I was a sophomore and junior university student.  Since then, I used to visit various countries in central and south America and haven't had any problems understanding and being understood.  Puertorican is a little harder for me to understand, but then Jamaican is also hard for me to understand, even though it is English--the Afro-caribbean versions of Indo-European languages always have their own nuances and I have to ask locals to repeat themselves often--but generally speaking I think I'm fairly well versed in Spanish.

I can read it and I can speak it, but a conversation with a native speaker is tedious and I usually have to ask them to speak slower and repeat themselves multiple times.

I know of it, but cannot speak or read it. If I learn a foreign language, Spanish would be one of the languages I'd want to learn though.

No, only a few phrases and words (non-American).

Solo un poco Italiano, perché ho studiato la lingua in liceo per due anni.

Well, I don't really know Spanish; but I can say limited things due to a Duolingo course, and I can usually guess most of a written Spanish text, this due to my knowledge of Italian (my 5th year of it in school)

Very similar.  For example, this:

Solo un poco Italiano, perché ho studiato la lingua in liceo per due anni.

in Spanish would be rendered as this:

"Sólo un poco Italiano, porque había estudiado la lingua in liceo durante dos años."

more or less   Smiley
