How hard is it for these people to just say "I did not mean to offend and I apologize that I did"??

The point is both good and bad. As trite and simplistic as naming streets after various non-local people can be, street names tend to be insipid anyway.  And it's not as if such existing Roswell street names as Pennsylvania Ave. are local.

They have a lot of states as street names. And there's Lincoln, Stanton, and Sherman. I don't think Roswell had the honor of being burned by General Sherman.

It's not a position that I hold, but it doesn't seem outrageous.

I guess some people inferred something that isn't in the piece. I wonder if anyone assumed that by pointing to the direction of Cesar Chavez's birthplace, he was hinting that fans of Cesar Chavez should move away from America (even though Chavez was born in Arizona, and it's not about suggesting anyone move away from New Mexico.)

All names of major streets in Roswell should be extraterrestrial-themed, because let's face it, that's pretty much the town's one claim to fame.
