Putin has ordered an full investigation which is ironic since he is the one who probably ordered Nemtsov's murder.

The murder happened right in front of the Kremlin, within sight of multiple security cameras set on the Kremlin wall. There is every reason to believe, the murdered man was being shadowed by the police: he was shadowed frequently, and this happened 48 hours before a big march he was organizing. At the very least, the killers, unless they were from the security services themselves, had no way of ascertaining he was not being observed.  The killers left alive a witness (the woman who was with Nemtsov) - they were, obviously, not afraid of that either.

Full investigation, my ass.

Professional job as well, judging from how he was killed. Which further narrows down the range of plausible possibilities...

If you haven't seen this movie, it's very good. Also, it happens to be quite relevant to the topic at hand:

Can you imagine that professionals would do this in front of security cameras, in front of the security service spies  almost certain to follow the guy, unless they were completely certain that police would never even try to find them?

One could, perhaps, argue, whether there was a direct order from the top to do this or not. But security service involvement is pretty much beyond reasonable doubt.

Ah, but I would most certainly count 'members of the security services' as 'professionals' in this particular context...

That Nemtsov tragically tripped and fell over onto four bullets that happened to be travelling at speed.

+1. As a person living in Moscow i am sure of that. Of course Putin personally didn't needed that, Russian opposition is relatively weak now, but Putinism - very much so. Putinism doesn't tolerate REAL opposition.

Actually, that weakness suggests its unlikely Putin himself ordered this.  Perhaps some underling hoping to impress him, but not Putin himself.  Not that I think Putin will be upset by this. Quite the contrary.  He gets rid of an irritant and if he ever has reason to dispose of that underling, he has a way to do it now while giving some ammunition to his apologists in the West.

even if Putin "did it", somebody will have to go to jail, no?  it can't be like the murder of Tupac or Biggie.

May be yes, may be know. Most likely, they will have an "intensive" investigation run for years. Might also try to frame somebody.

They are already suggesting he did it himself: trying to stage an assassination attempt for political reasons, but miscalculating, you see. This is a version, actually, published on a Russian news site - or, should I say, a "former news site"?

Most likely - yes. And  most likely - somebody (but, obviously, a perpetrators, not those, who gave orders) will be found and, may be, even jailed. But - that's all..

Can't wait to stumble over the first Putin fanboy conspiracy theory which claims that it must have been a CIA "false flag" operation or something like that. Tongue

It seems that Putin is missing now.

The most common explanation I have heard: a Botox procedure gone wrong.

Maybe he got caught in his gymnast?

Apparently, someone has suggested he is getting ready for a speach in US Congress.
