Civic Renewal:
A New Party for a New Center-Right!

February 28th, 2015:

Today Former President Lumine Von Reuental (Ind-OH) held an event in Columbus, Ohio, calling for the renewal of the political parties and launching his own political party to invigorate the center-right and especially its moderate sector, with the temporary name of Civic Renewal.

One of the most important parts of Atlasia is the political parties and the way they interact with the game, and ever since this nation was created we have seen all sorts of parties in an endless march of rise and fall. From the early days of the Democrats and the Republicans, to the hegemony of the JCP and the RPP, going through the rise and fall (and rise again) of the Liberals and TPP, all the way to the current system, we have seen a constant struggle for winning the game.

At the same time in which the main parties seem stagnant the center-right finds itself in the middle of a crisis. No one can argue that the Federalist Party is in good shape after losing more and more officeholders and elections as time goes by, being now reduced to a mere shadow of what used to be. That situation has to end, and since change will never come unless one step forwards and does something I have decided to do just that.

Today a new journey starts for me as I form a new political force, a new center-right party that aims to bring much needed change and pursue an invigoration of the political system and the revival of the center right, without pretending to be a sole party for all the forces of the right.  Civic Renewal (unless the members decide on a different name) is born with that objective, which is why I have decided on that name instead of going with “Conservative”, “Liberal” or anything of the sort.

I’d like to see this party as one that will not shy away from thinking outside the box, one that will do its best to welcome new players into the game, one bold enough to take a strong stand for the foreign policy of the nation and its defense sector, one that defends such crucial bases of our society like the free market, the rule of law and our threatened environment, one that tries to build policies of their own and step outside of the idea that only left wing legislation can pass in Atlasia, a party with a strong sense of responsibility and discipline capable of governing in an efficient way.

Today I wish to invite those in the center and the center-right who feel that they are not represented, who are unhappy with their current parties and wish to find a way out of stagnation to considering joining Civic Renewal. I have faith in the future, and if we can motivate enough people to join then we will have a great chance to achieve much needed change and, hopefully, make the game more entertaining for many of us.

Thank you all,

Lumine.

Well, t's a merely temporary one, but it's actually inspired on the old motto of Colombia.

Right, because the Progressive Union was a center-right party with such similar beliefs. Still, good to see you vocal as usual, Griffin!

I think I line up with the Federalists a bit better and will stick with them, but good luck with the new party.

Let's set up a convention thread to elect officers, create rules, and discuss the name.

Let's set up a convention thread to elect officers, create rules, and discuss the name.

Well, first of all, Potus, welcome to the party. I believe it should be wise to begin with the by-laws first (so we can hold a leadership election then), and I have a rough draft (based somewhat on the by-laws of other parties, hence the need to amend it) ready to submit to the party.

It has the usual rules, plus the option for having regional chairmen, a leader for our Senators, specific duties for the Secretary (a very important position), an expulsion or reprimand mechanism and so on. Thoughts?
