A really good read, I highlighted some parts.

EDIT: You can't post 20 paragraphs from a news story / column like that.  Dave's gotten copyright complaints before, so please limit to quoting something like 3-4 paragraphs.

Why is the media so hard on poor Scotty? Sad Why can't they just pay attention to the fact that he won three times in four years instead? I'm worried that people will forget about that...

Walker seems to really have some weird hate for unions. He recently claimed that Ronald Reagan's firing of the air traffic controllers after they walked off the job in 1981 was "one of the most significant foreign policy decisions of our lifetime."  He even claimed there were documents showing how the Soviets took Reagan "more seriously" after the firings. but when asked about it couldn't provide any proof. Politifact gave him a 'pants on fire' for the claim of proof, but the opinion itself is simply bizarre.

Well, the good thing is that if Clinton is the nominee (almost 99% certain), Walker can respond to these attacks by running Vince Foster (and other murder victims) or "We came, we saw, he died" ads. And I don't even care if these ads would be true but still wonder which would be the bigger "scandal"? But go ahead, attack Walker. It will all backfire, believe me. The GOP candidate has to define Hillary like Obama did with Romney.

Well, at least he didn't have to move to Texas to win an election...

How is Vince Foster a scandal? The bloke killed himself ffs

So, was running Palin and Ryan and now Walker as presidential and as VPs candidates. The G o P has been out of power since the Great Recession, and tea party has changed their chances of winning natl campaigns. Without Jeb, the appeal to hispanics will go with Dems.

I don't think anyone has accused Walker of hating America and being born in Africa yet

Of course not, he only had to run in the right year(s). Wink

Invalid argument. People who criticize Walker actually have something of substance to say about what he has done to unions and education in Wisconsin, as well as the fact that Wisconsin's unemployment rate is still quite high compared to other states. Tea partiers hate Obama because he's bla... I mean, a nazicommusocialist Muslim who was born in Kenya.

Tell that to the people who protested his parents, threatened to kill his family, and accused him of trying to promote campus rape, and even got the DNC and the Clinton brigade to help them in their spectacular fail of a recall campaign, there's something about him because he's doing what had been done by other governors in other states that give people an irrational hatred of him, news sources have in the last two weeks had to retract hit pieces on him because they were so false they couldn't defend them, and let's not forget the "john doe scandal" that has less to it than Benghazi.

Walker may love America -- but he certainly hates democracy unless it gets the results he wants (plutocratic oligarchy).

Some people definitely go way too far with their Walker hate; I'm not condoning that in any way. However, that's part of being a prominent figure of any kind. I doubt Walker has gotten 1/1000th of the death threats Obama has gotten. Some governors may have taken actions to hinder unions, but name one who has utterly crippled them in the way that Walker has. Brownback has done even more to damage education in Kansas than Walker has in Wisconsin, but Kansas is a much more Republican leaning state, so Brownback can get away with it more easily (not that he should.) If Walker were representing a red state like Kansas, he'd probably get much less flack for what he's done. The fact of the matter is, though, he represents a Democratic-leaning state, and has governed as a staunch conservative. While he was still able to win multiple times in a favorable atmosphere, that doesn't mean that he's not going to continue to face a lot of resistance.

Case in point, he does get a lot of hate from liberals. Minus the death threats and protesters showing up at his parents' house, he deserves it.

Imagine if Hillary Clinton said that standing up to Republicans in the 1990s prepared her to deal with ISIS.  Would she get a free pass on that or would the right wing go bonkers?  That's the media double-standard Republicans benefit from.

Republican media protects their own, while the mainstream media gives Republicans the benefit of the doubt.  Even liberal bias sort of manifests itself like, "hey, what do you expect?  He's a credible Republican nominee for President, of course he's going to say crazy things  I mean, what do you expect, Republicans need to pander to idiots and seem mentally ill to win, right?."

Walker never banned people from unionizing though. Its a personal choice basically in Wisconsin to join a union.

Tea Partiers hate Obama because he is Black? How come Tim Scott was endorsed by The Tea Party over White Republican candidates in his first run for Congress for his former House Seat then in SC of all places? Sure there are racists around in the Tea Party but there is always "oddballs" if you will in every movement. I'm not a Tea Party person because they don't know how to Govern but painting Tea Party as entirely racist that's going out a little too far.

Are you kidding that "The Mainstream Media" gives Republicans the benefit of the doubt? MSM is  all Democrats.

Republicans say crazy things:

Obama:

There are 57 states.

You can keep you Current Heath Plan if you want to. Wait no you can't.

ISIS is the "JV Team".

Republicans can sit in the back of the bus(Yes Obama said that.): Imagine had a Republican said this it would be all over the news.

I don't have the power to Legal Status to Undocumented Immigrants by Executive Order.: Obama said this statement 22 times before he flipped on the issue.

There are different types of gaffes.

Everyone fumbles a word now and then.  We ask politicians to make thousands of speeches, often with little sleep or preparation, so eventually they will say something dumb.  The 57 states thing fits into that, he meant 47.  He's a Harvard educated lawyer, he knows how many states there are, obviously.  He just said 5 instead of 4, anyone could make that mistake.  And, I would apply the same standards to Republicans.  Democrats were actually very unfair to President Bush in blowing his verbal fumbles into a narrative about him being an idiot.

The other so-called gaffes you mention, I think those are just misinterpreting what he said.  That's another responsibility we all have, to listen objectively and try to understand what people mean.

With Walker, I don't think he meant unions were as bad as ISIS.  I just think that quote shows his contempt for unions and his callow ignorance of foreign affairs.

With Walker, I don't think he meant unions were as bad as ISIS.  I just think that quote shows his contempt for unions and his callow ignorance of foreign affairs.

Of course he thinks that unions are evil because in his view the Little Man exists solely to enrich economic elites. His idea of freedom is that employers have the God-given right to negotiate one-on-one with an employee to reward workers based upon productivity even if such in practice means finding the negotiating weaknesses of workers and exploiting such for all that it is worth.

That is why unions are necessary, and why collective bargaining is so precious. Life that is nothing more than making the best of hopeless and intractably-ugly circumstances isn't much of a life. Committing someone like Jodi Arias to that is one thing. Committing someone to such because one is born into the 'wrong family' because that family isn't rich and powerful is another. Poverty is not the source of plenty.

On foreign policy -- he cannot accept that some of the 'exceptional' features of America are now faults and not virtues. Our extreme inequality does nothing to make us more efficient. Poverty hurts its victims from an early age, often making people cynical, depressed, untrusting, and pessimistic. He cannot accept that Protestant fundamentalism tied to an arch-conservative ideology is a rarity in the world, and that it is not for export. He cannot accept that other countries that adopted their political systems in the Industrial Age instead of in a pre-industrial age in which slavery was well-entrenched, might have more sophisticated solutions.

We cannot be the boss of the world. The most that we can do is to resolve a political order that has gone to war with the United States into something unlikely to ever wage war with the United States again. That was obvious enough when America had to wage basically two wars against political entities intent on destroying liberal democracy.

He has shown his contempt for formal education (who needs anything more than a trade school -- weren't Corinthian Schools wonderful as money-makers?) and the environment.

Just using the example of Tim Scott not trying to copy anybody else.

I don't think a majority of Republicans think Obama is from Kenya and a Muslim maybe some Republicans think that but not a majority.  Yes you are right if Obama was 100% white no they wouldn't be accusing of Obama of being a Muslim or being from Kenya.
