President Obama announces executive orders to
1. recognize Palestine as an independent, sovereign state
2. sanction Israel, particularly to prevent shipment of arms, and end all military aid

If this were to happen, what would happen next?

Impeachment hearings will start the same day and the President might need to hire some additional secret service agents to protect him.

Israel announces annexation of the West Bank immediately, unless Congress is able to hold them off.

Congress quickly passes bills revoking these executive actions and they pass with veto-proof majorities. If Obama refuses to abide by Congress' laws, he gets impeached with just cause.

U.S. military aid to Israel is in practice primarily a convoluted kickback to American arms contractors and to the politicians that are electorally dependent on having lots of well paid arms industry jobs in their districts. Which ought to answer your question.

The real crisis of this situation, which would be blatantly illegal by Obama in the first place, is whether Congress can take action and circumvent him before the UN is able to gather to achieve their long-term goals. Because if Israel is facing a UN assault with no US veto protection, they would probably have no choice but to cut some sort of protection deal with Russia. And that is where the long-term dangers come in.

This would never happen, of course. Obama is reckless with executive power, but not insane.
