Millennials are close to their parents and I think Hillary could appeal to this the way Merkel has done in Germany.

Being the maternal protector and champion of her kids...

It's not unprecedented with either gender in leading nations.

Well, she's already the matriarch of the Democratic Party.

A Rabenmutter maybe.

Or in US terms: A "Hawk Mommy".

I prefer the term: Mommy Hawk.

She's shrewd, jfern.  She'll do what the millennials want in exchange for FDR-esque admiration.

And if her hawklets need convincing in doing hawkish things, she'll convince us with a reassuring motherly tone.

I honestly think it's what people like icespear want.  Our own Mutti like Germany!

In terms of age, she's closer to a grandmother.

This is what some millenials most fear... her former positions on issues like video games and pot are going to feed some of the worst nightmares of the castrating mommy/nurse ratchet authority figure. I think she's too old for that though.

This is legitimately curious... It might actually be something we see.

Oh I don't know; there's something of a revival with video game fearmongering these days, counter-intuitively, among millennials.

The whole "cultural" aspect people like to talk up.

I think Millennials will be happy with 'mommy', 'grandma', or 'nurse' Hillary given that her opponent is likely to be 'cranky old neighbour with gun collection who doesn't tip 'spics and probably has children hidden behind a secret wall in his garage.'

Given that most millennials are in their twenties or thirties, I would think not.

I refuse to believe any German - even as a joke - has ever referred to Merkel as 'Mutti'. I really have far more faith in the German people than to believe that.

I think that's what the OP was going for, given Clinton is in her mid-60s. Clinton's almost exactly my mother's age. She's the exact right age range to be a mother figure to those around 30.

To what end this thread is meant I have no idea.

"Millennials" is not a useful category for most purposes to which it is put.

Millennials are not going to care about a vote she made over a decade ago. Maybe it's time for you all to GET OVER IT.
