Dear Friends (and Atlanta Braves fans),

I thank you for this honor to serve as your next Senator.

We are at a crossroads in Atlasia.  Do we continue down the same path that has led to the near end or do we turn it around and again become the bottom-line greatest micro-nation on the World Wide Web?  It is my duty to turn it around and keep it there for our children and grandchildren.

When I am to be inaugurated on May 1st, the first thing I am going to do is work to end the old Senate way of operation.  The Senate must stop being an every man for himself body and become one.   I want to form committees, form caucuses, and form a structure of Senators working together and not just rushing quick legislation to an undebated vote.  We must tear down the walls that separate us from each other and unite as one government, of the people and by the people that works only for the people.

That being said, it is time we work on real solutions for everyday life.  Let us stop and think about an approaching Social Security deficit or the on-going war on terrorism.  Let us begin looking at issues in different perspectives such as teaching kids about adequate nutrition and fitness at an early age so they won't develop high cholesterol, diabetes, or heart disease later on and won't need that health insurance in the first place.  Let us not deny anybody able to work a job.  Let us become something more than just a normal country, let us reset the standard for normal.   It is our duty and I just want to help.

Thank you and may the god of your choice bless you!

It means you (Philip) stand here, while an angry Philip-eating gorilla stands here.  Wink

I think that "hear, hear" is an idiom to express approval.
