Plz no.

If he runs, wins the nomination, and loses the general, then he can truly be considered Maryland's own Martha Coakley!

He won't win the nomination, of course.

Why?  She proved to be a really weak candidate when she ran for Governor in 2002.

But this is a lot more sure of a bet than the 2002 race was, and she'd actually be a good Senator.

Chris Van Hollen would be much better and would be less likely to become more than a generic backbencher in the Senate.

Really? I feel like he'd be a rising in power type. Isn't he rather high in Democrat leadership? Also, why would he leave to run for the Senate? I can see him as Speaker of the House someday.

Whoops, I meant to say less likely, my bad Tongue

Harry Reid just endorsed Van Hollen. This could get boring pretty quickly.

Good, hopefully Van Hollen gets in without a messy primary!

we have primaries for a reason, the people of Maryland should get to chose their representatives not some  man from Nevada.

Sure, but I'd rather they be herded into choosing the person I want to win Tongue

But I thought primaries were good! Nobody should get a coronation. Wink

Presidential races are the exception.

Van Hollen would be better, but she'd be my second choice.

Lol Democrats already getting cocky? Well, we all know how that worked out for Senator Rick Berg in 2012. ND isn't MD, but still: These open Senate seats should NEVER EVER be taken for granted, no matter how blue/red the state is, especially because the winner might get entrenched.

Obvious troll is obvious.
