Burr should be fine unless the environment goes south. At this point, I think Hagan is too damaged.

It is impossible for Hagan to get her over 50% unfavorables down. It's a shame, since she really did nothing that warrants THAT much hatred.

Too bad NC has been brainwashed by the Kochs into hating Hagan for no reason. I guess Cowell is the best hope then.

This is NC. So:
-Republicans win the WH: Burr hold
-Democrats hold narrowly thr WH: Burr hold
-Democrats win the 2016 election in a landslide:  Hagan pick up.

Hagan would be a terrible candidate. Is the Democratic bench in NC seriously pathetic enough that she's actually being considered?

Yeah, I suspect Burr quietly coasts to victory.

Hagan was literally denounced in every other ad back last year--she was particularly dented by attacks on her missing hearings regarding ISIS.

She also made Tillis' negatives worse than hers AND SHE STILL LOST. Hagan is really not worthy of a second chance.

I don't see how you can consider someone a terrible candidate given they were a Democrat that only lost by two points in a Republican wave year.

Personally, I think Hagan will sit 2016 out, but I can see her coming back eventually.

Well, I'd rather her not run again, but I'm not sure I'd go that far.

If she couldn't beat Tillis she won't beat Burr except in the most intense of pro-Democratic wave years.

To be fair, anybody named "Thom" probably isn't the sharpest crayon in pack.

A politician running afoul of the Koch syndicate will have his reputation run through toxic waste.

No, national Dems are just being stupid (like in ME-2).

Whatever trend was happening in North Carolina to the Democrats stumbled backward and it's back 2000-ish GOP hold. Georgia is more realistic for future strategy.

Burr's the favorite for now, but a 6-point lead against Cowell, with 44 percent of the vote, is not enough for him to be safe.

No its not. Nunn was the best possible candidate the Democrats had in Georgia and she still lost by 8 points. And it didn't have much to do with turnout or the electorate.

I've always thought Shuler would be a good candidate for senate here. A youngish, conventionally attractive white Democrat who represented a rural district sounds like a good fit for NC.

He's a lobbyist now.
