McCrory's been leading by 5-7 in PPP's previous polling. This is far closer.

This is due to a strong boost to Cooper's name recognition. I have no doubts this will be a one to two point race, but I expect McCrory to prevail nevertheless.

I wish Cooper had ran against Burr. McCrory isn't THAT bad, it's the legislature that's the problem.

Could just be floating within the MoE. PPP polls NC regularly, so we'll see I guess.

What Maxwell said.

Considering republicans will likely pick up the WH, I don't expect Cooper to win.

Likely pickup WH, I think Cooper will win, bur a GOP WH is far from assured.

I just tell myself the Republicans are definitely picking up the White House in 2016 so I am not disappointed if they, for whatever reason, actually do.

This will definitely be one of the most hotly contested gubernatorial races of 2016. North Carolina doesn't tend to be very kind to incumbents, so McCrory is definitely vulnerable.

Eh. North Carolina seems to be the Pennsylvania for the Democrats. Its a state very divided politically, but in the end Republicans always have a slight advantage. Right now I would say McCrory has a much better chance winning re-election than losing it.

In national elections, I would agree, but gubernatorial elections often play out differently. I'd say that McCrory is definitely is more danger of losing than Burr, and will probably underperform whoever the Republican presidential candidate ends up being.

Definitely not a possibility. With gerrymandering, Republican majorities have ballooned past 60% in both chambers.
