No, it's not an Onion article, it's long extensive WSJ editorial from Paul Ryan, John Kline, and Fred Upton. If you thought previous GOP alternatives were vague and meandering, you ain't seen nothing yet!

The people who want insurance will no longer be burden with having to have insurance. Great start.

Yes... if only we had some competing mechanism for insurance companies that they had to use. Great idea.

Yes. Adding to that mechanism a program for small businesses to join together in groups would also be great.

Who comes up with this stuff? Paul Ryan really is thinking for the common man! If only we had all of these provisions under existing law!

No Medicaid expansion, though. Because clearly when people have no access to healthcare at all aside from the occasional free clinic, the solution is to offer them private health insurance at a price that's slightly below market rates but still well above what they can afford.

Then they'll still be uninsured, but it's okay because they had the opportunity to get insurance, and the GOP is all about "opportunity."

Essentially, ObamaCare without mandates or medicaid expansion.

I'll stay with ObamaCare. The mandates are a necessary evil to make the plan work, and Medicaid expansion is a good thing that everyone should support.
