Rank of the penne I had on the second night, in terms of 'meals ever': ONE OF THE WORST
Number of ice-fishing huts on the lake outside the hospital: 20
Number of recipes learned from an old issue of, of all magazines, Glamour: 4
Number of pounds gained after almost a week of terrible food and no exercise: 6
Number of pounds below peak weight I thankfully still am: 14
Number of new diagnoses: 0, BUT
Number of new prescriptions: 1

The concept of a hospital intercom blaring out music is a frightening one to me. Ghastly. Appalling. Unconscionable. You should write a letter to your Congresscritter demanding the introduction (instead) of radios with headphones.
