This would be a phenomenally stupid idea.

No, even if that were to happen somehow, it would cause so much violence and destruction that it wouldn't be a viable solution.

In practice it would basically be the one-state solution since there are more Israelis, although I support Israel's right to exist obviously.
Also unlike all the other "should X be returned to Y" threads Israeli independence happened in the 20th century so it would be the most legitimate of the proposed land grabs, if you judged solely based on the time for which a territory was held by its current owner.
Come on Atlas, I expected your worst.

Palestine was not an independent nation when it was given to Israel. It has been a colonial holding of various empires since it was conquered.

Thus, there is no "returned". Unless you're nostalgic for the British mandate, which was certainly not about to grant it independence.

You conveniently behave as though the people who were living there the whole time didn't exist then and don't exist now and would be perfectly fine with living in a country that would treat them as second-class citizens because they don't fit into the prevailing conception of national identity.

Yeah, sure would have been nice if the initial partition had gone over without expulsions or attempted mass murders. I think it was an attempt to create some sense of peace there on the part of the UN. Alas, humanity.

Nope. In fact they'd get back all the land that they had under King David and Solomon at minimum and from the Nile to the Euphrates at the max.

Can we maybe not base territorial claims on historical kingdoms that may or may not have existed?

No, they should both be nuked, because if the world's major religions can't learn to share, then no one gets the land.
^^ I concur with the above sentiment Wink

Israel has nukes too.

Perfect! The multiplyer effect from the detonations means we can use less of our own nuclear weapons. Gosh, ain't this a grand ol' plan? Cheesy

I'm glad you find the potential death of another six million Jews to be hilarious. Just remember that unlike in every other case like this, they're no longer defenseless.

The world as a whole would be wise to remember this.

You started this conversation with the topic of nuking my family. That's not something I'm ever going to take lightly.

If you're not Jewish, you can't possibly understand that.

No and the suggestion is completely moronic and counter productive. Even if the idea was not horrible and disgusting, it remove any incitament for Israel not to fight to the last man.

Like it or not Israel is a real national state, filled with people, who don't have anywhere else to go.

It would also serve to justify other countries to treat refugees like the Arabs have treated Palestinians.

Ideally, no countries should exist but realistically, i'd say no.

This question makes no logical sense. Israel is a political entity. Palestine is a territorial entity. You can return a given territory to a given State, but not the opposite.

Both should be replaced by a single secular state (normal)
