Why aren't True Leftists ever funny?

As I've pointed out before, liberals are often very funny (like in The Daily Show and Colbert and Oliver's spinoffs, Family Guy, the stuff Al Franken wrote, Tina Fey, etc.) while conservatives that try to be funny fail miserable (Half Hour News Hour, An American Carol, Mallard Fillmore, etc.) True Leftists however are also never funny, they tend to only write dense and unreadable boring crap like those articles Snowstalker frequently links to, and never any political satire. I've never see anyone do anything funny about how Barack Obama is a neoliberal imperialist or supporting Putin in his mighty struggle against the Nazis who control Ukraine. It seems all funny people are liberals.

I don't know, a certain dark humour pervades almost the entire history of the Soviet Union (even the really really awful bits) doesn't it?

I personal think Russians have a wonderful sense of humour (through no one beats the Finns), through it may not translate well into some cultural contexts. In general I find that people east of the Rhine tend to share a very dark humour, which embrace the life's meaninglessness and tradigy.

As for BRTD question. True believers tend to be very serious people and very serious people are rarely funny, except for unvoluntary.

The book seems to be a history of the French Revolution, not some long tirades about the proletariat or complaining about how Democrats are evil imperialist neoliberals.

The Onion occasionally has some funny things from a True Leftist perspective, though they just as often make fun of the True Left perspective (like their articles on Syria, which are very pro-intervention).
