The possibility of Jim Webb winning the primaries, considering his populist niche, is intriguing.  If he actually won the primaries, who should he nominate as a running mate?

I have a creeping suspicion it would be fellow DINO Evan Bayh.

Jim Webb is not a DINO, and no it would be someone like Gillibrand or Klobuchar.

What about Elizabeth Warren?  She would help balance the ticket and keep the 'Democratic wing of the Democratic party' happy.
It's harder thinking of downsides though...

A presidential ticket with a combined age of 138 years.

How do you think the GOP would attack a Webb/Warren ticket?

They'd probably go hawkish, but Webb would be able to deflect that pretty well considering his military background.

Other than that, probably the usual attacks about raising taxes, etc...

Brian Schatz would be the best choice for Webb.

Ideally it would be someone relatively young and acceptable to the base who isn't exclusively associated with Washington. Brian Schatz and Cory Booker make sense. Gilibrand and Klobuchar are safe choices, and add a woman to the ticket.

Hilda Solis is a Hispanic woman who was Secretary of Labor, and a four term Congresswoman, but currently a member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. Current Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez is Hispanic, with a record appealing to populists.

Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker has a lot of rich friends.

Julian Castro and Anthony Foxx are young minority men with executive and cabinet experience, as well as appeal to swing casts. Foxx hails from North Carolina, while Castro can be a surrogate in the West.

Tammy Baldwin is a progressive favorite, and would represent a milestone for the LGBT community. As could current Oregon Governor Kate Brown (who wasn't elected in her own right, but can be an example of leadership in a difficult time.)

Booker or Gillibrand IMO. Outside chance of Warren.

Most likely he would be looking for a much younger male or a female that the base loves.

Klobuchar or Bayh would be good choices.  He could double down by picking Gen. Wesley Clark.

What did they have to knock Kerry on? Until they did on a billion things, some of which were contradictory. The idea that only Hillary will be attacked by Republicans is amusing. None of them are attacking Webb now because he's not significant enough to attack. It would be like if Dems attacked Bob Ehrlich.

Brian Schatz would be the best choice for Webb.

Given some of Webb's past statements he more then almost anyone would need to have a non white male running mate. Maybe Tammy Duckworth to solidify the veterans vote.

Meh. I think that would just look obvious.

Schatz is married to an Asian and his daughters (obviously) are part Asian. He is also from Hawaii, arguably the most diverse state in the Union.

My point is that slandering Webb in that fashion is a lot harder than it was to do to Kerry. I guess it's possible?

It's possible to slander any politician.
