The trajectory of my two family trees is pretty interesting. My family in the US went from being blue collar (father's generation) to being white collar (my generation). My family in Mexico went from dire poverty (grandfather's generation) to being teachers and nurses (mom's generation) to being bohemians, intellectuals, doctors and mid-management (my generation). I'd say that my Mom has been a much bigger influence on me than my Dad. It's not really a coincidence that my cousins in Mexico tend to share both my temperament and my interest in books, music etc.
I'm really proud of my family on el otro lado.
