Option 1 for me. Some kid said "hey dude" to me and I laughed in his face because all I could think of was the IRC meme.

No. I can keep my forum life and real life separate. It's not that hard!

There was a time when it did. I have since learned to better balance the two.

I regularly dole out 5 point infractions when my real life friends engage in excessive hyperbole.  This doesn't sound so bad, until you learn that each infraction point takes the form of a punch to the face.  A close friend is now on mod review, and I sent him to the hospital.  Sad

Really adds a new dimension to the meaning of "death points".

I mean I have moments where I act like an Atlas Forum poster but my instinct when someone says "hey dude" is to giggle like a 13-year-old because all I can think of is the Atlas Brigayde singing this

No, I'm rather open about it (numerous friends I've lived with have observed me reading Atlas Forum for the better part of many afternoons in a row).  It helps that most of my friends are interested in politics.

No, but I used to talk quite a bit about the jokes made on this place.

No. If anything my social life has gotten much better since I began posting (though the two things probably aren't correlated).

Tender Branson's friend: What are you doing?

Tender Branson: Oh, nothing.  This is just...uh....a website devoted to election maps.

Tender Branson's friend: What do election maps have to do with a topless Angela Merkel?

Tender Branson: What?  I thought that was a picture of Kim Jong-un's sister.

Really?  I don't think it's that old.  Maybe 15 years old, tops.

No, but it did get me in trouble with my boyfriend once.

When HockeyDude was taking his grand tour of the US, he was scheduled to come through Kansas City at 7:00 am on a Saturday. So I got up to leave the house at around 6:30 and realized that my partner had absolutely no idea I ever posted on this site or interacted with people from it.

So ... that was awkward to explain: I was leaving the house at 6:30 am to go meet someone that I only knew from the internet. It was exacerbated when HD's bus didn't show up till 11:00, and I went back to meet him then.
