I thought it'd be good to start a new thread since it seems there'll be a fun primary fight in Maryland.

Edward's announcement
Van Hollen's lame announcement

I really like Edwards but don't know much at all about Van Hollen.

But I hate National Harbor. Angry

Don't support either one. If I had to choose between only these two, though, I'd go with Edwards. Van Hollen is simply too close to Pelosi.

I'd prefer Edwards because she is more liberal and her presence will diversify the senate.
But Van Hollen seems perfectly acceptable too.

This, pretty much. I'm fine with either.

I've endorsed Edwards, but I'd be happy to vote for Van Hollen.

Either is equally good, so for the sake of diversity and slightly greater liberalism, Edwards.

Either are fine, but I'd say Edwards, for the sole reason that I've heard her speak before.

Donna Edwards. Van Hollen still has a chance at the speakership one day.

Neither of these two. Put a gun to my head, Edwards, since she'd probably not be a pawn and vote independently, while on issues of the most important to the Democrats she'd probably be a backbencher. Van Hollen would probably be an obnoxious Minority/Majority Leader.

Edit: Remebered Franchot campaigned against gambling in Maryland. Nevermind.

Edwards is in general a far better human being than Van Hollen is.

I don't usually back people entirely because of that, but Van Hollen and Edwards are ideologically identical. Van Hollen is closer to leadership sure, but it's not like Edwards is a rogue maverick.

So I went with the candidate who'll be more likely to empathize with minority and women's issues. Not saying Van Hollen's a bigot, but he'll never understand those issues as much as Edwards does simply because he's never experienced it.

Anthony Brown is running for MD-04.

Thankfully, if he makes it out the primary, a 78% Obama House seat will be harder to blow away than a statewide election.

I'd be fine with either, but Edwards gets the edge because she's not part of the establishment.

Well that too, but come on, Dana Rohrbacher is a terrible person and he's one of my favorite congressmen.
