Senators, you have at least 72 hours of debate over the nomination of Mr Averroes Nix as Vice President. Mr Averroes Nix will be informed by PM.

Since you've already been president yourself, I'm just wondering how much influence you expect to have as vice president. Are you comfortable taking a back seat? How do you envision your role?

I am confident that Nix will do a fine job, as he was probably the best President this country has ever had. I will vote for him.

As I already told you by PM, I'm really happy to see you being back completely in Atlasia. Considering you were one of the best presidents of Atlasia, I'm sure you will be great. I have however a question: During the campaign, you openly said that "Labor" wasn't unreformed. That's why you decided to vote for Maxwell. My question will be simple: do you still believe that?

Just to be clear, I will vote to confirm the nominee whatever his answer will be.

^^This.

That said, I would like to echo Senator Windjammer's question. Nix has always has been a rare voice of reason in this game, but he has made some comments lately that make me curious to hear his answer, such as stating that the Labor Party's decision to contest an open senate seat is an act of "bad faith".

Not sure why insightful commentary on the state of affairs in the game should come up in a confirmation hearing... Either way, I'll be supporting the nominee. Best of luck.

Nix has always has been a rare voice of reason in this game, but he has made some comments lately that make me curious to hear his answer, such as stating that the Labor Party's decision to contest an open senate seat is an act of "bad faith".

I will do my best to give an honest and straightforward answer without writing anything that inspires an uproar.

It is worrying to see any single party gain as decisive an advantage as Labor has shown in our most recent elections without any organized opposition coalescing. I spoke out about my concerns because, oddly, no one else had been expressing much skepticism. This didn't seem reasonable to me, particularly only four months after we saw DemPGH's presidency implode, and only five months after my decision to leave the party because it did not seem to take its critics seriously.

Side note: My claim about the open Senate election is complicated by Bacon King's slow fade from Atlasia and eventual resignation. However, had that not happened, his pending inauguration as Vice President would have placed him in a difficult position. My point is that TPP and Labor should have had a plan for defending the seat on mutually acceptable terms from the moment that BK joined the ticket. Nothing can be done about this now but it is something that future unity tickets ought to consider.

Griffin might disagree with this, but I think that the tone that he has chosen to take in his ongoing Senate campaign shows that my comments have had their intended effect. Some of the PMs that I've exchanged with him are also encouraging. In any case, I am confident that none of these concerns will impede my ability to work with anyone in the Bore administration, or, for that matter, the Senate.

Though I was distracted at the time, I was a little surprised that it wasn't Bore/Nix from the beginning. I mean with like one exception your two have been practically on the same page on most everything. Tongue

Mr Averroes Nix has been confirmed.
For the senators who haven't voted, you still have 24 hours to vote if you want your vote to be counted.
