Think about it. Young, Midwesterner, conservative, boy wonder. Did you ever see him going far in higher office, such as U.S. Senate in 2020, 2026, Illinois governor one day, rising to a House leadership position, or even being on a GOP presidential ticket?

He had a chance at House leadership, and he clearly was ambitious. His fundraising was pretty strong, and he helped Scalise win the Whip position (and was on the Senior Whip team). I don't think he was a good statewide candidate for Illinois.

Maybe Governor of Illinois, or somewhere in House Leadership (Like Dennis Hastert or Robert Michel)...but that's obviously been dashed now.

Yeah, Quigley v Schock race going into 2020 for Durbin's seat, well now, Quigley doesn't have to look over his shoulder anymore for a young GOPer to challenge him. Dold won't come close, and Kirk will be out, in 2016.

I think he had enough... shall we say, liabilities that would have made higher the House difficult, but not impossible.

He needs to be comfortable with himself and with the public. A younger electorate is not going to be forgiving of this sort of bull.

Outing Aaron Schock would be like outing Rosie O'Donnell.
