Totally straight Rep. Schock is involved in a sexy new scandal: He improperly brought along his surprisingly well-paid "personal photographer" on a trip to India.

Yeah. To quote Good Omens (always a good idea), he's gayer than a tree full of monkeys on nitrous oxide.

God I hope he doesn't resign. His extreme closetedness is too hilarious.

Aaron Schock is so far in the closet he's having adventures in Narnia, regardless how many scandals is it going to take for him to get booted?

I hope not, but one probably exists:

Not only is the elephant in the room, it is now loudly wailing and flinging feces all over the place.

I don't care what anything about his personal relationship, the problem is that he's violated ethical rules.

I've always been sort of scandalized by the degree to which the media covers for closet cases like this--if someone is backing the worst homophobic crap in Congress but then is going on ski retreats and trips to India with his boyfriend, all while not disclosing it, probably to avoid disclosing his romantic life, then yeah the media has an ethical obligation to report on this dishonesty.

I honestly feel bad for him and I hope he either feels comfortable with himself or his district's voters that he comes out soon.

I think it's one of those situations where he's already came out to his close friends and family, but doesn't want to come out to the press or the people of rural Illinois.

It's a shame he has to go through this. He's remaining a closeted homo and breaking ethics rules in the process in fear that his party will persecute him if he reveals he's gay and find someone to primary him. He doesn't deserve this kind of political bigotry, but it would happen.

I find you red avatars gleefully throwing labels onto this guy pretty goddamn tasteless, to be honest.

I don't really care how right it feels to call out this guy, it's just not okay to take someone's behaviours and tastes and then decide you've figured out their sexuality. That's some ignorant sh**t right there, even if they're a massive hypocrite. It's also completely missing the point of the story and focusing on stupid personal life sh**t that doesn't matter, but.. whatever. Atlas.

I'm a blue avatar, but I'm increasingly annoyed at Schock's apparent belief--and practice--that a different set of rules apply to him than to everyone else.

I think the rumors about other unmarried politicians like Lindsey Graham or Barbara Mikulski are stupid, but Aaron Schock's sexuality is basically an open secret at this point.

You know how people can camp it up so they don't have to actually tell anyone? It's like that. But he's a hypocrite and misusing public funds.

The low standards of this forum astound me. If this guy was 10kgs heavier he'd be a 5 at best.

I really don't care if he's gay, and if he is, it's none of my business if he's ready to come out or not.

The irony is that if someone in the IL GOP really did just not want a Gay to be holding that seat, Schock has now made it very easy for them to avoid directly talking about that altogether and simply say that his flagrant and repeated violations of ethics laws are not acceptable (and they're not) and that's why they're running against him. Like-minded voters can fill in the blanks themselves without anything actually being said.
