I've always been sort of scandalized by the degree to which the media covers for closet cases like this--if someone is backing the worst homophobic crap in Congress but then is going on ski retreats and trips to India with his boyfriend, all while not disclosing it, probably to avoid disclosing his romantic life, then yeah the media has an ethical obligation to report on this dishonesty.
